Local dealer brings new cars home for personal use...

So, the owners of a local GM dealership live on my way to work, and it's hard not to notice the new cars always parked in their drievway. Now I understand owning a dealership probably comes with its perks, but I feel like it's now getting excessive. Everyday I come home there is at least 2 or 3 new dealer cars at their place, none of them titled, just with "demonstrator" plates. We're talking brand new Camaros, Corvette ZR1's, Z06's, CTS-V's, Escalades, Yukons, you name it. Perhaps I wouldn't have a problem with this if it was the responsible adult owners driving these fast and expensive new cars (that will be sold as "new" to an unsuspecting customer ) if it wasn't that I see their teenaged kids bombing around town tearing up the streets driving "like they stole it" in these cars every day!!

I won't be buying a car from them EVER, seeing how the "new" cars are getting treated is plainly scary. More so knowing the type of person to buy these exotic cars would cringe to know how their cars have been treated. Can't even complain since the owners are obviously allowing this to happen. One thing is for sure, I won't ever buy a new car unless it is authentically fresh off the truck. Can't trust anyone eh?

Thoughts?

agree... I wouldn't buy a new car if it had more than 15 miles on it.

That's nothing. When I worked for Chrysler, every night we picked a new one off the line and drove it with the speedo disconnected. Sometimes for the night, sometimes for the weekend. It was a quality control check. We found a lot wrong with them, and they were repaired before being shipped to the dealers. It was standard proceedure with all the car companies. One guy rolled his, and it was scrapped.

Yea back in 98/99 I saw dealers doing the same thing. As one posted. If it's got more than 15 mi don't buy. That simple.

Mine was fresh off the truck with 16 miles, guess I shouldn't have bought it.

Dealers have had demos forever. You can get them at pretty nice savings.

The disconnecting the speedo post would be considered illegal now. The mileage has to be signed off on and to misrepresent it can land you making plates.

Kind of like the dealership in my town, had a 2010 Camaro with the supercharger package and the 550 hp emblems, not sure if it was a package or added on later. They wanted something like 50k and it had damn near 1k miles on it. and I know for a fact that they ran it hard. Whoever bought it must of been pretty dumb

Mine only had 12, Isn't there a law where if the car has over 50 miles its not considered "new"??
I wont even let the service guys drive mine! So anything over 10-20 miles I wouldnt buy!

Mine had 80 miles, hope they drove it hard, I sure did since I bought it. It uses zero oil and runs better every mile. Teach them young.
