Easy stops to bring them up to temp, then a couple of hard stops to get them really hot. This would be synonymous with the instructions that my company hands down to its sales people to instruct the customers. I found following the instructions on the box that the Hawks come in work best. Which include approx. 6 easy stops and 4 hard stops.

Ahh I should've mentioned I upgraded the fronts to Brembos so the braking does feel a lot better. But yes they squeal like hell. Better performing than ceramic pads, from what I'm told.

The HP Plus will squeak no matter what you do; that's just the nature of the pad.

Apparently yes HP Plus are made to squeak i have tried everything. too bad they offer exceptional performance but cant keep them on a new camaro and make it sound like shit!!!

Brembo swap and just go from there the stock single piston v6 brakes arnt worth putting anymore money into untill you get more pistons working for you, we picked up our full set of rotors, pads, calipers, and hoses with 1000 miles on them for $500

Thought I'd try and get some help in this thread...

I'm about to put in Hawks HP Plus pads on new rotors...

My question is, (probably a dumb one at that...lol.) do you re-use the thin shim pad that is on the stock rear pads?...

The stock pads for the front did not have a removable shim....Does the piston for the front (and back) go directly onto the new pad metal back, or should there be a shim/plate in between for the piston to hit?

Thanks in advance...

The Hawk pads have the shims built into the pad. Just install, Break them in and go!

Ok...thanks...Just that the rear pads are not completely smooth...There's two "rough areas" on them that look like it's where the pistons would hit...Probaby ok...just wondering if the shims were needed in the rear to cover those..

Edit:....rear pistons are more of a ring than a full face like the fronts....so "rough area" I mentioned above is a non-issue....No shims, piece of cake...thanks, boys....see you on campus..lol...
