Gas Mileage for your SS

So I just got the SS M6 about a week ago and have already logged on about 1000kms.

The window sticker from GM claims 13.2/21mpg city and 8.2/34mpg highway.

Now granted Ive enjoyed putting the foot down around town and a few quick highway trips, but I've been getting about 20l/100k city and just made a highway run of 300 km, kept it normal speed (a few passes) and got 13.7l/100k or roughly18mpg.

I know a new car sometimes takes a bit to get gas mileage up, but Im getting city mileage on the highway...

Is this normal? What are you guys getting?

I didn't track mine that close but I know some of the others did on our 5000km trip to Georgia. At the gas station my M6 SS was usually within 50 cents to a dollar of the others. Many were getting 26mpg's on the highway but nobody cracked 30mpg's that I know of. The best gas mileage of the group seemed to be the automatic v8 but not by that much.

My gas mileage absolutely sucks! Lol. But I guess I should have expected this when I ordered the SS. I still love it!

Also, around how many miles should our cars experience better gas mileage? After the initial break in?

from my experience driving a v6 , the gas mileage improved after 3000 due to engine being break in by 3 l/100km , i was around 15 now around 12l/100km

I just wonder how GM came up with these posted mileage rates right on the window sticker. I mean if i was even close it wouldn't even cause me to bat and eye, but when I' almost using almost TWICE the posted city gas usage BUT on the highway - that's wacked.

The window sticker from GM claims 13.2/21mpg city and 8.2/34mpg highway and this is for the 6.2 V-8.

On a side note was out for a cruise this weekend and just by coincidence there was a white SS followed by another black SS and then I turned onto the street right behind him in MY Black SS making 3 in a row. Heads were turning!

I am confused by your numbers 13.2/21 mpg or 8.2/34 mpg.

GM specs the SS at 16 MPG City, 24MPG Highway. I seem to get about that . If on the Highway, I do see about 22-24 MPG while on the highway.
And I get about 16 in town with LOTS of hard starts/ spinning wheels etc.

You have to remember that MPG ratings of cars are meant to be comparable BETWEEN different makes and models of cars and NOT to your specific car. To get the ratings there is a test that all cars run to get the numbers. I believe it is a set city/highway course and all cars take the same route.

Too many factors can skew the numbers you are getting from the official ratings. Speed, terrain, driver all affect what you will see.
