I think a lot of people have missed the point. All of the intakes performed better then stock, so any of them would be a good choice. Just remmember it looks like they were all designed with a stock set up in mind.

I think some of the "regs" here that have the Injen installed that are having issues with the results also have a heavy modded exhaust system as well and had their cars on the dyno and aren't showing but about a third of the gains that JRE shows. Also keep in mind that Injen claims about a 16 hp gain with this intake and JRE's test came pretty damn close to that. Some people aren't happy with them not showing the results right after each test, I think they did the test the same way for the v8's and nobody bitched about it. I think most of the intake manufactures are on this site, so why don't you ask them why you don't get the advertised HP with your bolt-on?

Could be as I always have read and been told by the people making the parts and who build engines for a living and race say you really can't stack hp, in other words add 10 for a cat back,18 for headers and 15 for cai and get 43 hp total. Its always less by about, what, 20%? But also you generally can't take away from a cai just because you add a cat, as one is on the intake side of things and one on the exhaust or the opposite end of the in and out pumping action of the motor. At least thats what I have been told.
The one thing that all my research over the past 6 years on my LS1 Z28 with all the dyno runs I have seen done by shops or by any of us right off the street, as we do, that manufacturers claims alot, not all, but alot of the times, are up to double what we all see.I have the magical, amazing 20hp air lid, NO, its good for 5-10 hp tops. K+N filter 1-4hp, more like 0-2. Catback 15-20 hp, more like 8-12 tops. Problem is that we throw are cars on a dyno for three runs and pronounce the cast in stone result or do this then mod and later re dyno and say yes only 5 hp.Well not to scientific if you ask me, kind shade tree mechcanic is more like it.We just can't simulate all the test proceedures done such as Airaid or JRE or Magnaflow or the rest do to time and $$$$$ and still it will be different because as we all get told, a dyno is a tunning tool for hp direction not a be all to end all hard fact.

At least as far as I have been told.

While I like the bit of extra power I "feel" with the new intake and the extra rumble at the tail pipe from it, the HP I may have gained is neither here nor there. It was fun to do a mod on my car myself. It looks cool. And I learned a bunch of stuff in the process. If I wanted a 600HP engine I wouldn't have bought a V6. The fact that I DID actually gain a little HP is just a bonus as far as I see it.

I agree! I just drive on the street and my aim,as I did on my LS1 is to add intake, shorty headers and I did the cat. All to add bottom end, sound and more resonse legally on the street. All this just adds to the fun factor and enjoying the car just a bit more.

I wont be going wit Injen because no matter how safe ppl say it is i don't want to risk hydro lock. Now that being said which do you guys recommend out of airaid k&n and CAI?

Another thing i don't understand. How does the Airaid produce more hp/tq then K&N when the Airaid temp are a lot higher?

I just got my Injen in today! I went with Wrinkle black, I can't wait to put it in tomorrow! Looks like a much easier install then my last two cars.

Is 14% fuel trim a good thing or bad thing for the CAI?
