Billet caps color question

I've been looking at adding a little bling underhood, and have been checking out the billet caps (radiator, water overflow, master cylinder, etc) with either the SS or Bowtie logo. These are offered at Chevymall.com and Phastekperformance.com.

They list color options of "Black" and "Satin". Does anyone know the difference between the two colors? I'm guessing the "Black" is powdercoated and the "Satin" is anodized. I sent them an email, but haven't heard back from them yet.

Has anyone here actually purchased and installed these caps that can post some pictures of the color you have?

Thanks in advance.

They're anodized black; satin is a brushed finish and maybe a clear anodize. Personally I hate anodized stuff and always prefer powdercoat due to UV resistance and durability. Anything I ever got anodized for my bike turned purple after a year of use but its cheaper to do than powder for the company doing it.

I have the polished caps and covers and they have a chrome look to them. I have also seen them in an orange which looks kinda cool.

They are all aluminum first off. Which is cool.

The Black is Powdercoated Black.

Polished is the billet brought up to a nice shiny "chromed" look.

Orange is anodized (electrically treated to make it another color) and is a hot item for the Orange, Black, and White cars.

The caps can be had in SS, RS, Bowtie, and Heartbeat of America. Some are available in only certain styles but those are the four ways that they can come.

Check out what we got for reference and if you have questions or want a specific package, get at us.

Ivan, do you guys have any with a satin finish? I'm looking for power steering, radiator, and master cylinder covers on a v6. Thanks.

Sure do!

Shoot Christa an email at Southwestspeed@q.com and let her know which caps/covers you'd like.

Betcha she makes you a sweet little combo package!

Ivan,
I don't see anything on your website with RS logo on it for the under hood dress up. Is that something we have to call in to special order?

Not many choices for RS...they just don't make all of them in RS.

We're adding more and more items to the site but not all are on there...just the popular ones right now.

Best bet is to contact us and we can detail what is available for your needs.

There will be a revision to the website very soon as well and we're hoping to have all 48000 part numbers on it....

Till, then, the email to us will save you $$

I just got today my drake satin caps with the camaro logo from phastek and I just love them they gave the engine bay a different cool look plus I got by mistake 2 oil dipstick handles one black and one satin and believe me the satin is way nicer, so I say go with satin all the way.

I have the black chrome............ they are a deep black, but shiny. Just something to think about putting "SS" on every cap might be bit much. I just did the "SS" on the radiator cap and left all the others plain. But, I also have a black radiator cover. Here's a picture showing a strut tower cover. Can't find any good close-ups showing the other caps. OH.... and these are nice thick/heavy piece..... no junk here.
