Brake pads
Ok. What pads are you using. I was told these pads are not good for track use. I should be using semi metallic. Any thoughts before I install them. |

They will heat soak and get your car into a wall in no time flat. Thats one way to stop fast.
You need a pad with a real heat range like carbotech, cobalt frictions, or DTC-60's if you really feel the need to use Hawks. |

I don't really need to use hawks. The factory pads have lasted for over 8 track days. Maybe I should just use factory pads. I will call and have these sent back

Yeah, ceramics not good for the track. Are you replacing worn pads or looking for an upgrade?

I don't know too much about Hawk if your wanting to say with that brand, but I think DTC-70/DTC-60, front/rear, combo are what's being used for track days. Hopefully someone with more knowledge about hawk will chime in. The Cobalt Friction or Carbotech brands seem to be more popular around here.

The hawk HPS pads don't look bad. The car sees about three to four track days a year and weekend driver when the weather is nice

I'm giving ebc blue stuff a try as a dual use pad. I haven't tracked them yet, but performance on the street and at autocross seem to be about the same as stock. The difference will probably be noticeable once they get very hot.I think the heat range goes up to 900 degrees celsius.

Stay with stock pads then, you're not upgrading anything with those and they will fail faster on track. Hawk pads on track are a MINIMUM of DTC-60's.
