For all you PS3 owners running out of hard disc space.
for all of you who have a 40 or a 60 or even a 80 and you want to see a very good, HANDS ON how to on swapping your PS3 drive to a bigger one, watch below.
I have seen LOTS of videos on this subject but this one is the clearest, it shows you on screen via text what size/speed drive etc. so if you follow the instructions you can give your PS3 HD some 'breathing room' . I personally have a 320 gig HD in my PS3. i know some say that the 80 in most of the PS3 (which is what mine WAS) is all you need. but with game installs, downloading video (movies and shows) from the PS store and future downloadable and add-ons (like full length PS1 and maybe PS2 games someday) it is a very nice and affordable way to add more storage to your PS3 .

best part? it does NOT void the warranty ! as the video says the one thing that takes the longest (depending on how much is on your drive) is the backing up/restoring of the data. it took me less than 30 minutes from turning off and un hooking, to backing up the data, removing and putting in new one, to restoring the data .

Wow interesting video. How much is that hard drive and that external USB device to backup your memory? I will definately do that IF and WHEN I run out of space on my old 40GB.

I prefer www.pricewatch.com its like a search engine for dealers that sell parts much cheaper than places like newegg or tiger direct.
list of ALL hard drive prices INCLUDE shipping prices of 320 gig HDs, the size i have fyi

I modded mine back about a month after I got it (filled up the 20gb so replaced it with a 500gb)
though this is much more complicated than how I did it (external hd with esata port and esata to sata cable) |
