FL shop reported closing...may need to go pick up your cars
Just found out that Florida Speed and Power in Bradenton FL is closing up shop. Surprising news being that so many people use them for builds and tuning nation wide. For example...everything built by J-Rod in TX...OR...that flame throwing white C6 vert that is all over 1320 videos...OR...the 1200+hp C7 claiming the highest hp C7 in the world right now.
I have buddy or two with their Camaro's and Vettes down there freaking out because the cars aren't done. I'm not sure what the arrangement is for unfinished cars but if you're reading this and have a car there, you may want to make a phone call and find out what to do. Thankfully FL is full of good GM performance shops. Redline design and 360 customs here in Tampa for those possibly looking

Dead serious man...I just heard about it today but I've seen text messages and threads on the corvette forum showing this has been kinda known low key for the last week or so. I have a buddy with his C7 down there now completely in pieces and no engine in the car...its "missing". Hes pissed and freaking out bc he doesn't know if he'll even get everything back.

Mine is currently there and apart. Been talking with Matt about picking it up and getting parts that haven't been installed. He told me he is doing his best to make everyone whole.

That's good news to hear then. BC the people I know with cars there are pretty shook right now. One of them is picking his car up Sunday so i'll see what he says then. Hopefully everything works out for you in the long run. Who you taking your car to instead then?

I'm on edge myself until I have all my parts or money back. I haven't fully decided yet. It's going to depend on the outcome of this situation. I can't afford to buy it over again.

That's a huge bummer for anyone that has their car in pieces. I know it happens, but still crappy. I'm glad I can do my own work, just need a tuner to finish up after any install I've done.

I just found out yesterday, I kept quiet, as requested, until all the customers were notified. Fortunately for me, all that was left was high boost tuning. My car was there for a while, and was put on a hauler at 10am this morning. What happened to blake could have happened to me. I feel terrible for the other customers that have their cars tore apart and have shelled out money for parts with no results.
Matt has promised to continue to tune my car remotely, to finish what he started. Unfortunately I will need to rent a dyno locally. I feel it necessary to point out, that we don't know the details, and should hesitate to judge, usually when a shop closes, especially one of FSP's stature, that its not going to be roses for everybody. That is little consolation to those that have not been made whole yet. But from a former shop manager that was in this business, I can relate to the shame and humiliation him and Rodney must feel. What ever they chose to do after this, it's not going to be easy.

Was in his shop last week visiting and there was no shortage of work, then the hurricane hit the next morning. I know from his FB communications that the roads were completely flooded out, but cars were high and dry and never left out overnight as rumors suggested. Even the Corvette thread linked above is jumping to conclusions with no facts. Until I see an official release on his FB or through one of his reliable vendors, Matt has earned nothing but support and respect for whatever hard times he may be going through right now.
