VVT CAM install
Just got done installing VVT2 Cam by GPI. It has a little wiggle room. It moves horizontal about 1/4 of an inch. Is that normal? I had to pull it forward to get the phase r bolted up to it.

That's my old plate. You can see it is definitely doing some rubbing. Seems like you would not want that.....but I guess GM knows what they are doing......

I just swapped the camshaft on my L99 in August 2020... I already forgot how it looked in there exactly. Were you able to assemble the timing chain without dropping the oil pan? I tried and tried but ended up having to drop the pan and loosen the oil pump.

Also be sure to put a new o ring on the pump if you drop the pan.

I had to drop mine also. After I spent 3 hours trying to find the double threaded stud bolt on the driver's side that hold the starter cable tray.
0 documentation on that little bastard!!! Ended up tieing some fishing string around it. Did you replace oil pan gasket? Sent from my SM-F916U using Tapatalk |

Yes I definitely changed cam plate. The picture is my old cam plate. Just trying to understand why there is so much play on the cam, especially since it is clear it is rubbing against the cam plate. Just seems like a poor destination me....
