Long Drive and Splattered Bugs....
Ok, so, long story short. I just finished my 6hr drive and was nearly in tears at the sight of hundreds of bugs and bird crap smeared all over the front end of the car. It was so clean when i left . Now, there are bugs all over my chevy sign and all up and down the front end. The bad thing is, I have no cleaning supplies down here. I just have household things like paper towels and soap. What would you all recommend to get these bugs off?

This is what I do, and it works very well.........and it only cost you $1. after a long drive, before you go home or to your destination, go to the nearest "DO IT YOURSELF" car wash. select the high presure wash....NO SOAP.....and spray off the bugs and other stuff, and watch your time, then change to the "SPOT FREE RINSE" and finish it off, the ones around my place have filters and water softeners for the spot free rinse, most do. Get on the road and BLOW DRY IT..... I personally carry some of my drying towels in the trunk just in case. but it gets all the CRUD off the front.

1) Soft side of the squeegy to take the bugs off every time you fill up.
2) Diluted fabric softener as soon as you get home. But, whatever you do, don't let them bake into the paint. |

Whatever you do start with lots and lots of water to soften them up. Otherwise you are scratching paint.........and that would stink.
Just my HO.

Locate dryer sheet. Wet with tap water. Apply to bumper. They come right off as easy as wiping your finger over a dusty table. Rinse.
Not sure why it works, but I've used this for years. Keep your front end waxed helps too. I always bring a dryer sheet out when I wash. Do the front last, dip the sheet in the soap bucket and wipe right off and rinse. No issues. |

Don't like they squeegy idea.....the mesh is designed to be abrasive on the windshield.

Main thing is to clean them off soon. Not really anything you can do about bugs if on a trip.

Soak them in Adam's Waterless Car Wash for 10 minutes then wipe them off with a waffle microfiber towel. The bugs will be removed easily and it will not hurt your paint.

Splatter effects on the camaro are generally below the hood line, and harder to remove than the few that hit the hood and roof. I just wet it down as much as I can and go through the car wash at least twice a week during our dreaded love-bug season. |

You guys are nuts taking household cleaner items to your car.. the wonderful thing of this age is the INTERNET. Get on a good site like autogeek.net and order yourself a bottle of quick detailer and a few bars of clay.
Unless you don't really care that much, then by all means.. just my opinion!
