LS3 + AC = Loss in power What's wrong?
Alright, it just hit 95 degrees today so I decided to stop driving with the windows down and blast the AC. I went to leave my driveway and the car had NO power. I was in 1st gear and gave it gas and it stuttered along like it was in 3rd gear at low rpms. I thought I was in 3rd gear and mis-shifted until it kept doing it. Later on in the day I tried again during lunch and it did it again. Once I was moving along it didn't seem to be an issue. I was able to WOT it after I was moving along. Turn AC off and it didn't hesitate. Any ideas?

My l99 acts strange under the stress of the ac when its 105 out, but that's expected.

yep, A/C = LESS HP at tires. But since I just replaced my rear tires already, I don't drive hard anymore. not for 300 per tire.

O.K. THAT much drag is unusual. If it is continuously doing that, take it to a dealer. I don't lose anywhere near that much with the a/c on and I've been running mine for 3 months now.

I definitely notice when it's on but to be honest, it draws less power than other cars and trucks I've driven. It could be the hot humid air getting pulled into the engine combined with the AC that's exasperating the effect. I tend to take it pretty easy on both my cars when it's this hot and humid out.

That is exactly my opinion. I understand the loss in power with AC on, but this just felt extreme. 1st gear feels like I'm trying to start from a dead stop in 3rd. I have to basically floor it because it feels like it's going to stall if I don't. Then it levels out after about 5 seconds to where it rides normal.

I thought on all new cars or at lest the few I've heard of automatically turns off the AC compressor during WOT situations. There is something definitely wrong and need a visit to the dealer.

As for your description RavenSS, it does sound a bit extreme. I feel the power difference with my A/C on but the driveability is still the same. The shifts feel the same and I have no hesitation at any RPM. Take it to the dealer if you feel there is a problem.

RavenSS, have you had the time to take your vehicle in to be checked over just to be sure there isn't anything actually wrong with the vehicle? If you need any help working with the dealer let me know!

Jeff, I had not had any time to take my car in yet. Busy Busy Busy! As soon as I can I'm going to talk with the dealer. Thanks for your support!

Thanks for your reply. Hopefully your work can slow down enough for you to at least drop the vehicle off. I hope it's a quick fix for you and you can get back to enjoying your vehicle as soon as possible!
