MPG, my shame 1ss M6
I hope my man card won't get pulled. I got the SS and drove home from Houston and got a completely embarrassing 28 MPG. Since then I've performed GM strength and endurance testing every chance I got maybe 150 or more 0-60 and just about abusing it. I got the MPG down to 17.5 lifetime, where it should be.
Well I do have to drive to work in normal traffic and to my MPG has been creeping up. Even though I do try to hot dog it often. 20.2 MPG is where it sits and it even has touched 21 MPG. The shame of it all. My only explanation is this new DI engine has altered the time space continuum, tore a hole in the very fabric of space. So I filled up at COSTCO and though hmm, what if I drove this car like a normal person, 15 miles home what would the MPG be like. So a rest of trip B, a normal urban comutte home where I could have actually hyper miled it thru at least two long lights ( I did not) I got 24 MPGs. Heck pump the tires upto 45 PSI and get some hypermile tech going I bet I do 26 MPGs... My Civic SI 2015 would get about 28 MPG stock and 26 MPG with supercharger under the same conditions... Oh and I have the gas hog M6 My shame as a muscle car owner, I'm just not coming upto bat.

I'm averaging about 24 even with my foot getting stuck on the floor every once in a while. I had a 115 mile trip I averaged about 28. I'm sorry also, hell yes that is technology at it best. My 15 ss would only get about 21 or so on the hwy. Dam LS engine crappy technology.

You are doing far better than I with the V6.
While on a longer freeway trip I did manage to do 30.3 mpg. My daily commute and average over 2000 miles is more like 19 mpg. :( I'll take a photo and update here. I likely have a couple bad driving habits, and my commute must really suck, as I only averaged 21mpg with a VW GTI.

That's incredible! And who cares! Good to see that the LT1 Camaro manual is getting great mileage!

This is why I'm buying now....I figure I can enjoy all the benefits of an SS for a couple years, until they work the bugs out of the ZL1.

^^that's my thought..^^ these are somewhat of sports cars, normally when buying the V8 one (at least I) doesn't really care about mileage. cracks me up that people worry so much about fuel mileage in V8's. Esp what the price tag of these things are.

People who call American V8s gas hogs forget that since there's so much torque generated at low RPM that they can turn at really low speed on the freeway and barely sip any fuel.
Meanwhile tiny engines need more RPM in high gear. The tree huggers of the world are ignorant. They think muscle cars still get 15 mpg..... They did, in 1968. By the late 1980s the Camaro, Firebird, and Corvette were all getting above 20 mpg. |

I have averaged 24-25 MPG myself with lots of lead foot action. I have 4000 miles on mine already too.

OP, stop buying COSTCO gas. Research that one.
