SS2 Camshaft and Lope

Hey all. I have GPI SS2 cam.

Is it possible to custom grind a cam and keep power and torque like GPI SS2 VVT but with completely stock idle and stock like quiet. Sort of sleepers cam. I love SS2 cam but want to keep same as stock idle and quiet. No lope at all. Loud while driving is no issue at all.

I have upgraded all nessecary parts for L99 VVT cam. Just i will swap cam to custom grind SS2 VVT.

Any possibility

in a word...no! Those lobes are what make the power. You could try quieter mufflers,

Call Ryan at GPI or send a PM and ask him. He would know best on what you can do with a custom grind. His forum name is rhino79

That is the unfortunate part of a pushrod engine. You are limited by a single set of cam lobes. You will not get big power without having that lope. Only dohc engines have the ability to tighten and open LSA, which helps a lot with controlling lope. There are grinds that are very mild, like the LS9 cam etc, but they don't make nearly enough power to be considered worth the hassle imo.

You will also find almost all aftermarket cams also require a higher idle which does counter some of the lope sound but with our lift...And why ???? Why kill the lope that is loved world around to try to make a sleeper so bad when you can kill most the sound with the exhaust.

"Kill the Lope" Seems as crazy as a lot of the other things going on around me lately. Love the Lope...

After reading many of your post....my best advice is to just go back to stock. I hate to quote old cliche....but you cant have your cake and eat it too.

Dont want to go back to stock. As power is amazing. Car pulls like crazy till 7000 rpm.

Ok one more thing. Drilling a hole 1/8 inch into throttle body will cure the cam shake inside the car. As it will get more air at idle? I have one extra throttle body with me. Should I try?

Do not drill a hole in the throttle body blade Tune your ****ing car properly or kick your tuner in the balls and go find another that will.

Go back to stock exhaust other than the longtubes. :P

Do you have a stall? I don't see that in your mod-list...

Hahah noo tuner is best. RYAN himself tuned it. Car runs perfect. Other than cam shake.
No I dont have stall converter. It is on stock converter. Car only bucks while decelerating and dipping under 1200 RPM. Slow speeds are good as well.

I am on stock exhaust with cutouts. Sound is almost good now. Will upload a clip. Butttt cam shake . Shakes my b.......

I would suggest a higher idle and no drilling a hole ......STUPID ...great way to ruin a TB.
