Popular Mechanics: 1LE 2.5secs Faster than Boss @ Gingerman

Dont have a link, but just received the mag in the mail.
Said the mustang was more fun to drive but the 1lE had grip for days, both on the skid pad and on the track.
I'd say 2.5 secs is a lifetime on a race track.

Slightly banked skid pad:
Mustang 1.18g.
1LE 1.27 g.

Mustang lap time 1.37.06 min.
Camaro lap time 1.34.74 min.

Since when is going slower and having less grip more fun??? Guess next time the wife asks how my day at the track was, I'll just say it was OK.

Cars that don't handle well and are slower always are more fun to drive!! I will take the faster better handling boring 1LE.

Yeah, I'm with you to! I can't understand how blowing into a corner fast than a more expensive car is gonna ever get old... does anyone remember the 1LE beat a Audi R8 V10 around VIR? If I wanted a car who's rearend kicks out way to much I would have bought a mustang or a drift car... I'm in the 20th century soooo IRS it is.

The boss is $5K more; has 18HP more; is about 250lbs lighter.....and STILL SLOWER than the 1LE. Camaro is 2.5 seconds PER LAP faster.....that is EPIC.

Noticed the Camaro had much better weight distribution as well.

Have there been any "track offs" between the 1LE and the laguna seca yet?

How cool would it be if Chevy released a "laguna seca-ish" 1LE?

Are those published lap times the Mustangs fastest vs. the Camaro's fastest, or an average over many back-to-back laps? Reason I ask is the Mustang is not at all a slow car (MT showed it can run even with an M3), so given its weight advantage, 2.5 seconds in a straight-up hotlap on a 95 second track seems too good to be true. However, it is fairly well known that Mustangs don't have the brake hardware necessary for extended track use, so if they averaged the times over an extended run, it wouldn't be surprising the Boss would have been dead in the water.
