Maryland Emissions
Alright so the time has come i just got my paper in the mail.
I have LT headers with no cats. How to get past emissions? lol

Hmm. Emissions is a tough one because you can't just go anywhere. Now if it was MSI then I could help you out.

Did it pass? I don't remember them doing any inspection on mine (650 HP) except checking for codes thrown, which your headers can do. But you should know if a code was thrown. I don't have headers just because of possible codes (And not needed for my set up).

I know here in Va on newer cars they dont do a sniffer test they just check to see if the cats are there but u will fail with a check engine light. Md might be the same way.

well obviously if they use the little mirror on the stick to check for your cats you're screwed, other than that they just plug into your comp and check to see if the system is throwing codes.
as long as your comp is clear you have a 50/50 shot of sneaking by,depending on how lazy the inspector is feeling that day about snooping under the car. Good luck.

When I had my GTO it had long tubes and no cats on it. My tuner turned off the code and it passed. They just hooked it up to the computer. They didnt run the mirror around which I was suprised but hey i was ok with that!

I havent taken it yet i have untill september i have lowering springs sitting in my room to put on so the plan is get them on first to make it harder to look with the mirror lol then yes ill be going to try it

Listen to this one.. I was just there and my Mustang Failed. Heavily modified 347 stroker 750 dp Holley with big cam.
I put a set of hi flow cats on it, filled the tank of with turbo blue, and leaned the carburetor out.....and yep.. failed. Reasoning.. not rich enough! HAHA I told them well, let me turn the choke on and test it again, but he wouldn't let me. They did take the mirror around and looked for the cats. He did tell me I could just come in every 3 months and pay $14 and fail. lol GL |

Other than the potential visual check for the cats, is the MD inspection any different than the VA inspection?
Got mine done and then emissions lights all tuned-out and had no issue.

I have High Flow Cats and LT's so am I understanding this correctly, as long as I have cats and no codes I'm good?!
