This is why I hate my camaro to be my DD

On the way home from work yesterday, a big rig lost a tire. With cars on both sides of me, I was unable to avoid hitting it. Here are the results:

That's a big reason why I make it a pint to stay ahead of all semi trailers, even if I have to speed a little to do so. Was behind a dump truck with a trailer that was fishing about 5-10 feet in either direction in high winds while doing about 70.

dammit, that sucks. I suppose the trucker is not responsible? i definitely try to avoid those and especially dump trucks. you guys know that a huge rock from a dump truck busted my windshield within 5 minutes of the trip down to Camaro5.com fest

good luck on your repairs.

That's almost identical to the damage my IOM received from a truck tire too.

Sorry to see it happen to you, it was a pain for me.
Hope you don't have Allstate.

You are very lucky that the tire didn't smash thru your windshield and cause a major injury.

In theory, that is good advice. However, on a six lane highway at the beginning of rush hour, there is no way to avoid a big rig or to speed up or anything like that.

I talked to my insurance (State Farm), and they said it will be covered under my comprehensive coverage and, unless it was negligence, the truck/truck company would not be responsible.

you could avoid it by making sure you slow way down and stay far enough back from a big rig.

Yes, if anything, Im glad thats it's just cosmetic damage and not something mechanical or electrical. And more importantly, glad to see that youre okay. I too avoid truckers of any kind for reasons like that. Rock chips flying across my car is not cool at all! Sorry bud, best of luck!
