I don't really consider the Camaro "retro". It's a modern take on the original styling. I honestly hope the brand never strays too far from "retro" again.

I agree...anything retro about it is some styling ques...some like the connection to the first gen, most couldn't care less...Totally different cars...Just sayin' if Dodge "brings back" a Plymouth 'Cuda, it'll be pretty weak...They got away with a four-door Charger all these years, will quit making the Challenger (probably the most accurate of any "retro" styling)...just think using old-school names like 'Cuda won't fly like the Challenger did...

SRT is its own Brand now, starting with the Viper, although they also do SRT versions of Dodge and Chrysler vehicles. The Barracuda will fall under this brand.

Not true. The 5th Gen Camaro for example is nearly identical (in production terms) to the concept car of 2006, and they said all along that was their plan. In any production environment, some concepts are developed to evaluate new technology, and others are to gauge public acceptance. The biggest bargain is when you can do both. If the public likes it, and it can be economically produced with a return on investment, they'll build it just like you see it.

"Retro" design normally has very limited success for a short period of time. Obviously, the design was done before, and not everyone is a fan of the past. Nothing says the next Camaro has to look like the previous. The existing generations have very little similarities (the 3rd & 4th probably being the closest). Nothing says the 6th gen couldn't resemble a 458 Italia.

BTW;
Dodge will not be building the Barracuda. It will be sold under a separate line of "SRT" vehicles along with the Viper and another SRT-4 vehicle. They plan to separate them from the other MOPAR product lines.

....Now that you guys mentioned it, I do remember hearing about these new/different "divisions"...I think they even quit calling their trucks Dodges...now they are all "Rams"....

Still, to come up with "Barracuda" for a name sounds like they might still try and get some mileage/sales out of old Plymouth muscle car fans...

Also, could be wrong, heard basically these 'Cudas and Darts are basically gonna be some sort of "Fiat" platform...lol
