Payments or Cash?
Are you makin' payments or payin' cash?
If payments what are you guesstimating? If cash how long have you been saving? |

Good question Chance. I haven't done the math, but, I am trading in or selling my still brand new like '02 35th Anniversary SS Camaro for the ZL1. That would be bring me down to the price of what a new 1 SS or 2SS would cost. If I sell the car outright I will probably get a bit more...who knows. I'm figuring around 600 per month on a GM loan with top tier credit,...I hope. I will wing it it either way....can't pass on this car, no sireee Bob...

.
I've been saving $450 a month for a year and a half, have 9k+ saved and will have about 12k there by March '12 when I expect to be getting the Beasty. Another 7kish for trade in makes a 19 k down payment. I'm guestimating a 55k pricetag with options, so that leaves 36 LARGE to finance. My USAA Preapproved auto loan is at 6.35%, so that should leave payments of $658.00 for 60 months. __________________________________________________ _____ EDIT ( DOH !) Typo: The rate is 3.35%, not that other silly number. .

I'm walking in to the dealership with a duffel bag full of $100s, dropping it on the counter and telling them to hand me my ZL1

After not calling in sick and not using much of my vacation time for 31 years, my department is paying for my ZL1.

Guess that doesnt answer the question though . . . If GM is offering low % financing such as Honda gave me on the wife's Pilot (1.9%), then I will probably finance about $25K and put the rest down. How long have I been saving . . . . Hmmmm . . . for 35 years. I retired from BP last year (but still working, and saving, LOL). |

The interest rates are so low right now I'm not going to put much cash in. I can always pay it off early later like I've done to my other cars.
