Ordering 2013 2SS...Need opinions on color combo..First Post
New to the forum folks, my first post so be gentle! I learned allot on the Team Chevelle forum prior to and during the build of my 70 Chevelle. I hope you fine folks can give me a point in the right direction on my decision making process of my new Camaro.
I sold a frame off restored 1970 Chevelle this spring that was an experience to say the least. It was fun, frustrating and expensive all at the same time. I sold it for two reasons. First, I found someone that loved it more then I did and was almost made whole financially...Second, you need to be mechanically inclined to own these vehicles and I am far from it. I miss my car and my wife has green lighted ordering a 2SS for my 50th birthday...Happy birthday to me I need some opinions and guidance before I order and here is what I am considering. The car will be orange no question about it. My 70 was orange and loved it.... I cant believe that the striping on these cars are decals. I plan to order my car void of any of these and paint mine on. So here in lies the area I need some help. I like the orange interior but not a huge fan of the orange door panels. Has anyone seen the gray leather interior in the orange cars? Should I consider the gray versus the orange? Second, what color SS stripes should I do. With the gray interior I was thinking maybe gray stripes with black borders or the reverse may look nice. If I go with orange interior what color stripes and borders should I do or have you seen that look nice. How about white stripes anyone a fan of them with orange and black interior? Need some help here folks and thank you in advance for your input and suggestions... |

Congrats on getting approval from the "CFO" and welcome to the board.
It seems that many of your questions are extremely subjective and therefore would be difficult for anyone else but you to answer. Additionally after seeing some of the incredibly tacky things that some Camaro5 members do to their cars...I assure you, you don't want to ask their advice on striping and color schemes. It's quite shocking what some people consider attractive. My advice is to poke around in the Photos/Spyshots/Media forum as well as the Member Car Journal section to help form some ideas of what YOU like. Also it might help to browse some of the Vinyl and Decal Vendors that are sponsors here. I understand you wanted your stripes painted, but seeing their stripe kits on a car may help inspire you a bit. Good luck...and awesome choice with the Orange!

Go to www.bigwormgraphix.net and check out the different types of striping options. I know you want to paint them, but they have a variety of striping ideas that you can use.
As for interior, I know a lot of people hate the orange interior but go with what yoy want! I would do the gray... Welcome to the forum! |

Minge, Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wive's, husbands, girlfirends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.
oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here. Welcome!!

I agree, very subjective questions so I'll just tell you that my '11 vert is Orange w/ black stripes. Love the color, it looks amazing in the direct sunlight. My interior is black. I thought about swapping the leather seat covers to orange/black but then figured black is classic and always will be. Orange will be more of a fad and show dirt and scratches to the leather. Not a big fan of white/orange combo.
Just my two cents, if/when I was going to paint my stripes on I would have them airbrushed. Take a look at some of the cars on here. saw one that looks like flames (looked incredible on the orange Camaro), one with skulls, etc. if your gonna do it, might as well be unique. Good luck.

I am a big fan of coloring outside the lines so to speak. Don't want to be just another orange Camaro kind of guy.
BTW this forum appears to be much more civil then the Team Chevelle forum...Many trolls over there... Appreciate the feedback keep it coming. |

I thought the orange interior might be too much when I ordered mine, but I'm glad I got it. Love the orange ambient lighting in the door panels, and added it to the dash.
I too want to have my stripes painted on. Wish I had ordered it without stripes. I debated between the black or CGM stripes like the concept car. I plan to add black stripes with a bit of gold metalic to match the IOM paint. I suggest you sit down with the custom shop painter and pick their minds for ideas. You'd be amazed with what they can think up to make a simple stripe your own custom touch.

Minge, Please spend some time in the convertible section. Not trying to steer you away. Chevy has had some problems with the convertible mech on the 2011's and 2012's. No issues yet on the 2013's. Note: I am not a convertible owner but I play one on TV. hehe,, I have been lookng to purchase a vert since 2011. Waiting to see if chevy have finally fixed the issues.

Keep in mind that if you decide to get stripes painted on rather than the usual decals, then your colors for the stripes are limitless.
In addition to what color (ANY), you can also go with a pearl variation of that color as well. for example back when I bought my 2011 Vert, I wanted white strips painted on it because the car I bought from a local dealer's showroom didn't come with them. I decided to go for a pearl white, just to be a bit different and to add just a touch of pizazz. The body shop painter then proceeded to bring me FOUR different huge batches of white samples to choose from. I think one whole batch was GM whites, another Ford whites, etc. Turned out the pearl whit I liked was a BMW color. The point is, let your imagination run amok when choosing the color. |
