New guy here!

Hey guys! Just picked up a A6 '15 ZL1 that I traded my cammed/bolt on '03 C5 Z06 for. Couldn't be happier! This car will not stay stock for long .. Drag raced it last night and the best I could do was a 12.4 @ 116. It was 88 degrees so that wasn't doing me any favors. My plans are rear 18" black repro wheels wrapped in 305/45/18 M/T ET street R's, 10.1 lower pulley/ stock upper, Rotofab CAI, TSP 2" headers/xpipe, and dyno tune. Most likely a cam down the road. I'm not new to the fbody (had a LT1 fbody in the 90s) but new to the Camaro5 community, good to be here!

Welcome to the Forum. But your mod list needs a little bit of a revising . Feel free to ask questions.

Mod list looks great. Can't wait to see the results.

That 10" pulley is going to require a lot more fuel. So you are going to need bigger injectors and a BAP

Thank you Bryan. Also, that much boost with no cam is a bit of a waste. I believe anything over 12-13 PSI on the stock cam is simply sent out the exhaust pipe and causes you lots of extra pressure and heat for little to no HP gain. It's done, but it's not ideal SO go ahead and go for the cam if you want to

I'm not saying you can't do it, you can, and when/if you add a cam, you'll pick up lots of power and drop the pressure.

For cams, there's plenty, though I really like the BTR stage 3 cam.

I wouldn't describe it as "wasted boost". Actually the cylinder pressure is too high. But you are right that a cam helps.
With a big increase in boost your DCR(dynamic compression ratio) is so high that the engine is prone to detonation. Therefore you have to pull all the ign timing advance out to prevent knock. And there goes all your power. Unless you run race gas all the time.

Now DCR is based on static compression ratio, boost pressure, and intake valve closing point. With a bigger cam (longer duration) the intake valve closes much later. So your DCR comes down and then you can advance the timing back up closer to MBT(maximum brake torque) timing. Also you are going to run cooler because the boost pressure comes down (google "adiabatic compression")

This all goes back to the notion that any engine modification that results in better airflow will lower your boost. And that is a GOOD thing despite the general consensus on the internet that if you lost boost you lost power.

Here is a good DCR calculator you can download.

Well said. And the bold part is a huge misconception I see spread all over .
