Crushed exhaust
Has anyone cut out the crushed part out under the rear end and replaced it with new pipe. I heard it cancels drone but it looks like it won't flow. My car is auto with NPP.

Keep an eye on Mishimoto's exhaust thread. They may uncover if it is restrictive.

It's most likely not really causing any major performance loss, and is used for emissions

Had the crushed pipe cut out and replaced today. Sounds awesome. Really brings out the sound of the xpipe. No drone and didn't change the sound in 4 cyl mode. Very happy.

The crushed pipes exist for one of three reasons (or all of them).
Clearance Tuning the sound Tuning the backpressure Regardless of what the reasoning was, it's not going to improve performance by removing it. Even with serious "restrictions", exhaust is still hot and low density and it wont make any measurable effect on performance. This has been posted before but still good to watch. |

Awesome, let us know how it drives once you get some more miles on it.

Was it much of a difference? I've been contemplating this mod but wasn't sure if it was worth the effort

I'll most likely be doing this and removing the two secondary/unmonitored cats.

it does seem to sound better! How is the ground clearance? With a stock setup i wouldn't expect to see any performance gains. Now, I have a CAI, ported throttle body and msd intake manifold. I'm also looking to put headers on. At some point this section would almost have to become a bottle neck if you have everything else upgraded to pull air in and push exhaust gases out or at least one would think and I am looking into replacing this section because of that reason.

Where are you noticing the biggest sound difference? Idle? Full Throttle? Cruising?
I can't tell from your before and after videos |
