I get a little belt or pulley whine from my car for the first 5-10 mins especially if I haven't had a chance to start it in a few days. I took a quick peek but really diod not notice anything, I will look harder at the 2nd belt.

Belt/pulley noise since day one

I seem to have the same problem

For a long time now my car has had a noise when idle at cold engine temps and a little bit when warm.
The sound/noise is less when the engine is warm, but it is still there.
The sound/noise sounds to me like a bearing on one of the pulleys grinding, or like a belt slipping.
I took my car to my dealer last year and the service manager rode in the car while I drove.
Then when we returned to the dealership he heard the noise from belt(s)/pulley,
but said he could not determine where it was coming from.
He said I shouldn't worry about it unless it gets louder.
Well it's another season with the car now out of storage, and the sound/noise is still there.
It doesn't seem to be any worse than before, but you can definitely hear it.
It is kind of embarrassing when I am showing off my car to others because everybody hears it as the car idles.
At idle the engine should run quietly, but mine has always had this bearing grind or pulley squeal/grind noise.
I will more than likely replace the stock exhaust soon and that should give me something else to listen to besides my engine winning/grinding noise.
I would rather fix the noise, and change my exhaust for other reasons.

Anybody else having this problem?
Anybody have any suggestions about what it is or what I should do?

Its the AC belt same problem as mine and it will most likely get worse. Demand that the dealership fixes it because it shouldn't be like that.

If you are 90% sure it is coming from the ac belt and your dealer won't budge on replacing it under warranty, just take a knife to it and buy an aftermarket at napa and sound will disappear.

Probably is an alignment problem. They can shim the component to acheive proper alignment.

All your posts sound like my car. Dealer said he could not hear it and when I picked the car up it was quiet. When I got home, pulling in the garage, it was back. The noise is hard to pinpoint but I will look at my belts.

4/4/11 Looked at my belts and they are seated in the pulleys properly. Even with the engine running, no belt misalignment, pulley wobble, etc. Naturally my "belt squeal/bearing whine" has been quiet for the past couple of days so will have to wait and see...at about 5300 miles.

4/5/11 Noticed the noise is back as I was idling in the garage...frustrating.

My belt was whining from the minute you started the engine and would never go away no matter how warm the engine got. It sounded more like an old a/c clutch pulley, but I took it in and they found that the Harmonic Balancer had loosened up causing both the belts to wear. Service department had to get the HB sent in. Once received they replaced it and both of the belts under warranty. Car has around 6k on it. A little concerning!!

Just checked my a/c belt and sure enough it is off by one groove at the crank pulley. I guess I will bring it in for warranty work. This should be interesting as I have a aftermarket CAI, HF Cats, and drag radials lets see if they give me an issue with warranty.

My AC belt was off by one rib and was making noise. The belt started to fray the dealer replaced it no questions asked, no more noise.

Looks like there are a few who have had this same problem.

Jeff Morris are there any service bulletins on this problem?

newmoon, I'm sorry but I don't have specific TSB information that I can give out or even use. The best place to get the most up to date information on our TSB's will be the dealership. There may be a time in the future that I can give out certain TSB information. Hopefully that time comes soon.
