Question Lifters knocking in LS3???

Hey everyone i was just wondering.... i have an LS3 and i can hear what seems to be the lifters knocking it goes click click click. I have exhaust on the car and i can still hear it especially when the car is warm and running at idle. Car runs perfect with no problems but im wondering if its just me because it seems to be getting louder. The car has 3,900 miles on it. I do drive it the way the car was ment to be but i also take real good care of my car. i treat my car like my women! I treat it right, give it the best but i do drive it like i stole it I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem on their LS3, i've heard about the L99 having that issue but not the LS3. I belive the car was built in July of 2009 not sure. I dont know if that might help in any way. It almost sounds like if it had an exhaust leak but its coming from the engine bay on the driver side. Just wondering what you guys think about it!

Sounds different from the L99's lifter issue. That only happens on startup, and only for a few seconds... This one's new to me

My car was built about the same time, I had noise on the passenger side that I did not like because it seemed like ONE lifter was making noise as oppose to all the lifters and it did not go away after warm up...

I hope you do not have the problem I had as it turned out to be a bad lifter, it appears that they had a batch of lifters where the roller pin was loose or would work loose and then damaged the engine block.

My advice would be to take it in ASAP.

Here is my old thread:

I've heard that on a couple of occasions and thought it was an exhaust leak. It's been a month or more since I last heard it though.

Should be no need to worry, I am certain that if the posted issue is the same problem as my defective lifter issue that GM quality control is making sure no more defective lifters are being used.

It was an expensive mistake and I am certain the proper steps were taken to prevent this from happening again.

Yeah thats what ima do. Im going to take it in today as a matter a fact right after work! Im going to call to make an appointment! I only drive it on weekends so i will just drop it off! Yeah i just noticed like maybe 500 miles ago but like i said it seems to be getting louder! I think it does it from start up but its more noticeble when warm and it sounds like maybe 2-3 lifters are knocking. Hope its nothing but it didn't do it before so i dont know! And SSRS im sure its been fixed on the 2011's if that was the problem. I also heard about that bad batch of lifters when they had to switch manufacturers because of that issue. Well im going to make that appointment and we'll see what happens! I will keep u guys posted!

hey, at 24k I had an engine tick. Turned out to be a cam with a burr on one of the lobes.... no tech notices on it when I took it in (May). Dealer said it was their first case. I ended up with a new Cam and lifters under the warranty....
