Personally.....I wouldn't trust a "Free" tune. What is that???? your 15 yr old neighbor wants some practice. Tune from a reputible person is one thing...freebie is another.

I thought with the Injen long tube CAI you do not need a tune with that brand , I am thinking of buying one but not if i have to do a tune , The site itself says it works with the car and does not need a tune , True or have others had the same brand and required a tune?

I am with you on that one. I was very nervous with the "tune or not" question. Do a lot of research about tuners in your area and stay away from the budget tune garage guy. We have a lot of them where I live and nothing good will come of it. A tune done right is like getting a new car and really opens the LS3 up. There are plenty of professional shops that know what they are doing (and have a rep to uphold).

Just my 2 cents, but I wouldn't risk losing my warranty just to go over 118.

I don't know what you would need a tune for. Your choice though - but your warranty will be sianarrah.

Your right, if I bought my car to Sunday drive. Its also true you are rolling the dice that your engine, tranny or rear don't have flaws that may pop up in the next 5/100K..still...

There are two main Chevy dealers in my area. One, I have zero faith in and the other I have heard mixed things about. For me, playing it safe isn't going to help because chances are even if it were a warranty issue, they would probably screw up my car anyway (one has already).

Say something bad were to happen to my car, and I needed maintenance, would I be able to have my PCM flashed back to its stock strategy, leaving it absolutely untraceable by a dealership? I was actually offered a tune for free, and id hate to pass it up... tell me what you think guys! Btw, 118mph speed govenor on my car... dont want that since I upgraded tires and wheels! > Thanks
GM will know how many times your CPU has been flashed. Once you do it there is no going back. The decision to void your warrenty depends on what YOU want. If you forsee yourself modding the car than go for it. If you are just going to do a tune and stop with that, I wouldnt do it because the gains would not out weigh the loss of warrenty.

your warrenty is only void if something breaks

FYI.... Any dealership will de-program your speed limiter for about $50 as long as you have good tires and it wont affect your warrenty. as soon as my tires are worn I'm getting my limiter kicked off too. It's dumb they limited this car to only 118 from the factory, but I guess they figured most peopel wouldnt know any better and would put cheap tires on and then blow them up

Let us know if you decide to go get the repair. We are here if things do not seem to pan out smoothly.

i had the same problem you did with the governor ihave a k&n intake slp loudmouth 2 axleback exhaust and american racing longtube headers....i also have a trifecta tune the best part about the tune is that when it lifts the speedlimitor it also takes off your rev limitor and your car willl scream! its worth it
