Changing rim size does not effect that as long as u make sure over all tire diameter about the same..

NOT MUCH POINT IN CHANGING RIM SIZE AS I WAS TRYING TO GET BETTER REAREND GEAR RATIO BY CHANGING TIRE SIZE/Diameter IF CODES ARE SET
WANTED TO GO FROM 3.23 TO 3.73 AND FIGURED THAT A 26" TALLTIRE WOULD DO IT..

As long as you turn off all the nannies the smaller diameter doesn't cause a problem. If you forget it causes the tc to go nuts as the rears are spinning faster than the front and it thinks your out of control! If you want to race with T/C or PTM's on (don't know why you would) then stay with stock diameter

ZL1 Rears Wheels
This is a real interesting topic.
I am in the same boat looking for some tires to hook with. How ever from what I have seen and heard is the following: And correct me if I'm wrong: An 18" Front Z06 wheel aftermarket (40 MM) is only 9.5" wide Right? While our stockers are 20" X 11", I would think the 11: wide tire would hook better than a 9-1/2" wheel and tire. |

ZL1 Wheels
I understand that part, ok
but with the stock wheels you are putting down 3 more inches of rubber to the pavement. I would think the ultimate benefit is hooking better with the wider tire. By the way I tried C5 OEM front wheel and it would not fit on the rear. |

C6 Z06 front 18" is what fits (2006 & up)...not C5. The ultimate contact patch is not as important as sticky rubber with a more compliant sidewall for drag racing. 17" would be better than the 18" I run with a lightweight wheel like a Weld RTS. I saved a little $ but didn't lose much because a 305/35-18 is still 305mm no matter which wheel it is mounted to. I doubt it would equate to even an inch on a wider wheel. The proof is in the performance as I can get a 1.57-1.58 60'. You will spend much more for other combos. The lightweight wheels are worth it just for the weight differences if you are willing to pay the $.
