lmao well said Stout. Thats what i was trying to make a point of but GTO took it the wrong way. Irpq, the dash will look like that, and i bet it will look better in person, i just hope the door panels dont scratch to easy, watches rings, girlfriends nails, all seem like enemies to the panels right now
There's still a glimmer of hope that the lighting will look ok...what I'm more dissapointed about is that secretly they still consider this "half-done" and they put in a full ABL system next year. After a year I don't what to have to get into a car knowing it's only half-done when compared to the '11 model, and it could really hurt resell value.

I'd like to avoid resale in the future but currently I'm not made of money.

First year 53 and 63 (C1 ,C2 ) Corvettes have always been worth more than the 54 or 64. I believe a 67 CAMARO is worth more than a 68. This despite the next year improvements.

I highly doubt a piece of unlit plastic will devalue this car vs a 2011.

You really are pulling at straws with that argument.

Yes, that looks like it's on!

Now, I gotta say, this is the best "interior lighting shot" I've seen yet! I love how the gauges have the blue backlight. Man, I wasn't a fan of the interior...but now I'm in love! The lighting is amazing and really sets it apart!
That's why it is disappointing that they couldn't get it to work properly.

You act like ABL is the only thing that may improve for the '11. However, I hope you're right.

It could be a reflection bt I think that is the one we've seen in the video with the orange ABL in it. In any case, I had a 2SS ordered with the IOM interior which costs almost $500 more but changed the order to a 1SS black interior after the announcement of no ABL in the front dash. If on Saturday they can show the orange interior looking good without the lighting, then maybe I switch back. However it is going to take a lot of convincing.

Here is a photoshop of the Camaro black interior with some red ambient lighting not turned on perhaps. A pretty neat concept and sharp looking interior like this..

Don't hate me but seriously...... how hard could this be. The technology for this exists! I'm happy they at least kept part of it but come on! It's LED lights..... Plus there's transparent light bending platics that were developed by the air force YEARS ago that would create this affect..... heck Disney World uses this technology in their parade floats.

This will not deter my purchase of the car (the fact that I'm laid off right now is though), I just think that it should've been done as shown (I know you wanted to GM).

When I first laid eyes on the concept, it wasn't just the sharp exterior styling that caught my eye, but that big swath of ABL was simply arresting. The total package just worked inside and out. When production was first announced, in my mind I was thinking that if they keep it as close to the concept as possible, I was buying that car. I wouldn't even consider anything else.

When the pricing and options were announced, I thought it was a bit much. The options list was pretty restrictive and getting a car with ABL and leather was going to require the 2LT package. I didn't want anything else that came with the 2LT, but I figured it would be worth it to get the ABL and the leather. But the price was a bit more than I wanted to pay, and that's when I started thinking about giving the competition a chance.

Now that the full ABL isn't going to be offered, I don't have any reason to get the 2LT except for the leather, and I'm not shelling out that much for just leather seats. So at the least, if I do get a Camaro, GM is getting a couple thousand less out of me. But moreso than that...the dash and door panel plastic was underwhelming IMHO, but the full ABL made up for that. Without it, the interior now doesn't have any advantage over the competition. In fact, I daresay the new Mustang's interior looks better, and the Genesis coupe could give it a run for its money.

So whereas a year ago I was going to buy a Camaro without question, all of the competition is now on the table and I'm going to drive each competitor and work from there. The Camaro still has advantages with its exterior styling and power, but pricing, options, and interior quality is dropping its stock in my eyes.
You should get a radio flyer with a string of Christmas lights wrapped around it. That would definitely be better than the Camaro without ambient lighting.

The interior looks pretty cool. Do you know if the camaro will have a push button start engine?

If GM engineers would put that into the interior, no need for ambient light. Just a clean, thin pipe of red along the lines of the dash and door panels.

An interior like that puts it into Audi territory. Clean, simple, and elegant.
