I could swear I've seen a thread unbelievably similar to this somewhere else...hmmm, oh well
I doubt very much that anybody can tell what rear it'll have besides looking at the current drivetrains in use(i.e. G8, Vette) BUT, I'm going to look for a 4.8sec 0-60 in the 'base' V8...or whatever it's going to be. and a 1/4 of maybe 12.7-12.8 I think those are realistic numbers achieveable, and beatable by the 5th gen. |

i saw a 3d comparison that ,i think road and track, did. they had the new camaro . they figured all the weight, power and gearing ,that the concept had and they raced it in a few test againstthe mustang,v6,v8,and gt500. the camaro beat it in every aspect (again). but i dont remember the times it ran. but then again this was off or the 6.0 motor and the concepts stats.

The GTO had a 0 to 60 in 4.7 and in the quarter mile 13.3 seconds at 105.9 mph. It weighted 3760 lbs and had a 400 hp engine. I imagine the base camaro will be similar but probably a bit slower, if it has the L76 or something similar and a bit less weight, in the range of 3600 lbs. If the top camaro comes out with the LS3, it will be a few ticks quicker having about a 10% better power to weight over the goat.

I'd say 4.7-4.8 0-60 times and high 12s in the quarter are about right. Since we don't know the engine specs yet we can't even begin to say for sure, but those numbers would put it at the leading edge of the competition and are about on par with what we're expecting the power, gearing, and weight to be.

I'd think the quickest times we'll see from a stock V8 will be 12.5...probably right at 12.6. My old Z28 will be running a lot less hp than the new 5th gen and I got it to 12.74 w/only freeing up the intake/exhaust. We'll be able to easily achieve mid 12's stock.

heehee. Okay, I can't take it anymore...I've got to say something. There's this guy over at another site (I don't name names) who claims that NO bone-stock 4th gen evem has a chance at dipping into the 12's. It's 13 and higher. Even the SS...
I only say anything, cause I'd love to have him comment on your numbers, TAG...apparently both of your cars are/were super Camaro's defying the laws of physics. |

Well...that, I guess could all depend on where you live. If you live further north (higher elevation), you are going to have slower #'s. Then again, I can make anything fast go just that much faster!
The stock Camaro (Z28 and SS) has been proven to be a 12 second car right off the dealer floor. It just depends on who drives it, the weather conditions, and where it's driven. I have the old mag somewhere amongst my hundreds of magazines which has it's 02 stock 1/4 mile runs....running very high 12's. Then again, both my Camaro's weren't bone stock when taken to the track. My SS is pretty much stock...ecxept for the CAI, KN, SLP LIP, MAF, and SB. But, that's just a few things to allow in a little more air. I'll run a stock Camaro in the very high 12's for him....just make sure it's got a short throw H6spd. |

The bone stock LS1 they ran in the mag (I couldn't tell ya which one) barely dipped into the 12's. Think it was a high 12.9...ish.

Assuming about 430hp and about 3900lbs (that weight includes a 180-200lb driver) I will say about a 12.8 or 12.9 with a 109mph trap speed for the average driver, which most of us are.
I am basing this guess on watching countless runs at the drag strip by all kinds of cars stock and modified. Unfortunately, I expect that a few magazines will pull 13.0s and 13.1s with a similar trap. The 4th Gen LS1 was good for high 12s stock, but that is with a good driver at a good track with decent weather. The vast majority of people still get low to mid 13s.
