WANTED: 2001 Z06 Corvette
I'm looking for a used Z06 corvette under $17k. Dont care how many miles or if it needs a little work. I plan on using it as my DD. Im in the Bay Area, but am open to SoCal as I will be down there in a couple weeks.

Get a 2002, the HP went from 385 to 405 that year.

One more thing. I talked 10 friends into buying Z06 Vettes since 2000 since I used to have a buddy that was a manager at a local Chevrolet dealership. I love the Vettes, but they have some issues with the electronics that can really add up after a while. The streering wheels are notorious for locking up in the 2001 and 2002 vettes. Everything is expensive for them, that's why I got rid of mine years ago. I checked Yahoo and there's no Z06 in your price range, I will keep an eye out. I had the opportunity to purchase a 2002 three years ago with less then 20k miles for 24k and waited to long and another friend snatched it up.

actually i got one last night. Its a 2001 Z06 (385hp) for $15.5k, which was the best deal ive found so far. If you hop online for a Z06, the cheapest they go for is $18k or $19k.The guy im buying it from was really knowledgable about his car and took really good care of it. No dents dings, accidents, interior doesnt even have any rips or tears. He also swapped out all the fluids, and spark plugs with wires. Its Black on Black; completely stock. It's getting detailed today and I'm gunna pick it up tonight or tomorrow.

Good choice I loved my 2002 vette. I only had it for a couple months, and I loaded up with mods. It ran 10s with half the mods my that my camaro would take :P. Car got stolen out of the driveway :(. I love my camaro more than it, but my corvette was a beast. The camaro is more practical for me and all around more comfortable, thats why (along with the amount of money it would take to buy a corvette instead of the camaro) i bought the camaro. If I had the money I would definitely get another corvette and mod the shit out of it . You will love owning the vette! .

I just did the same thing two weeks ago except I bought a 2008 Vette (1LT, Z51, NPP exhaust) with 26k miles for a little under $28k. I haven't driven the Camaro since, the power to weight ratio on the Vette makes it more fun to drive and the gas mileage is awesome (~28mpg on Freeway).
Enjoy your Vette and Congrats...
