Some how this thread jumped from a ZL1 vs. Viper to a ZR1 vs. Viper (which is a good comparison).

I think its because a ZL1 vs. 640hp Viper comparison is too ridiculous to comprehend

Did mis quote the hp on the ZR1... Just got off the phone with a good friend that watched a video on the Viper for 30 minutes and he gave me the weights. I weighed the ZR1 and I know what it weighs and I have owned 3 Vipers, a 97 a 98 and a 2008. In June of 98 my 650 Hennessey Viper was in Motor Trend as the fastest documented naturally aspirated car in the world. We'll see.......

The Viper will destroy the ZL1 at the strip. 1/2 a second or more likely.

The old Viper would beat the ZL1 at the strip and track, I'm sure the new one won't have any issues in doing so either. I'm not a fan of the way the new one looks.

What about a shifter kart and a zl1. Shifter kart is a 125cc 38 hp. 0 to 100 in 6 seconds. A shifter kart is an adult size gp go cart.

Who's rules? You won't catch me comparing a Mustang and a Vette and to me it is a joke that Ford is trying to convince us that we should.

Corvette is the Chevy flag ship.
GT500 is the Ford Flagship.
If Ford would produce something other then a Mustang then you could compare that to the Corvette.

Dodge will now have a new Flagship and it should only be compared to the Corvette. Thus leaving Ford with only the GT500....

I never thought this to be too hard to understand.

Who the F cares? Has anyone noticed the new Viper is one of the ugliest cars ever made? It looks like the baby of the original viper and a F599 if they were brother and sister. Plus it's a Dodge so it will make less horsepower than it's supposed to, and will probably not be able to turn, and will likely break down early and often.

From SRT (link), the curb weights are listed as follows:

3354 lbs Viper
3297 lbs Viper Track Pack
3431 lbs Viper GTS
3374 lbs Viper GTS Track pack

I don't see why everyone is losing they're mind over this new Viper when it's not far ahead of the ZR1 as many think.

The New Viper has 640hp and the ZR1 has 638hp(604lbft of torque).
The ZR1 weighs 3,333lbs. But only one model of the new viper weighs less than the ZR1; the base Viper with track pack (3,297lbs). I see both of these cars being a drivers race. All Chevy really has to do is send out the new ZR1 with a simple tune with more power and......
