Exclamation Totaled My Camaro :-( Need Advice.

Well let me rephrase that. Someone ELSE totaled my camaro. Last week Friday I was driving west bound on the free in the fast lane doing 60MPH because it was raining and traffic was pretty much steady. Well some guy who must have been running late comes down the slow lane trying to pass up everyone (its a 3 lane freeway with a carpull lane). Well he hydroplaned making his car skin counter clock wise and comes directly at me facing south and hits my rear passenger side causing me to spin back across the freeway and end up on one of the off ramps on the freeway. All my air bags deployed except the steering wheel and passenger side. Luckily i was able to walk away and I didnt hit no one else as i slid across the freeway.

Well both of my rims on the driver side both front and back snapped off when i hit the curb sideways going roughly 40mph. So I had damaged to my passenger rear, air bags deployed and snapped both front and axles. I lost my rear bumper, tail lights, etc. LOL. My rims and tires were laying flat on the ground :-/

Anyway, they totaled out my car. I still owe $24,000 on it. It had 44,000 miles on it. It was an auto 2010 2SS with factory ground effects. What do you think they will try to offer me when the total loss department contacts me? Im hoping for something around $26,000-$28,000 since that what Kelley Blue Book list the car for as "retail" pricing. Any ideas?

Look at NADAguide and since it's not your fault you have a lot more standing ground. Don't settle for less then retail.

If its not your fault the person at faults insurance should cover your vehicle for full retail and ur gap shouldn't b used also may throw some money your way for medical expenses and out of court settlement suggest getting an attorney

My wifes Avalanche was totaled a few months back, they should pay you tax and tags on top of book valve. Since it is not your fault, they will try to make you happy, but you might have to push a little bit. I did.

Yeah, Im not even sure IF I got Gap insurance or not. Im currently going to physical therapy and do have a lawyer. I was under the impression that I had to handle everything with the car by myself and that my lawyer would handle everything as far as compensation with injuries. He has me going to physical therapy 3 days a week for a minimum of 2 months. But Im anticipating this call because im anxious to see what they try to pull but like you all have said, since it isnt my fault and its most likely his insurance that will have to pay Im hoping my insurance company is trying to get me my max return. :-/

Well according to the Nada website the price for Clean Retail (Non including the ground effects) is $29,150. That would make my day :-) :-)

Great to hear that you are well. I would also try to get some lost wages as you stated physical therapy three times a week. You might have to miss some work, or something.
