ss "constriction" or "restriction"
i placed my order 1st week of june for a 2ss imperial blue, rs, i was 25th on the dealer list overall. got a call on 8-28 saying my #'s up ready to order, however can only order 6 cyl not 8 cyl. i stayed w/ the ss and the dealer has no idea when he will be able to order it. i'm still at top of list, but he has past me up to order 6cyl's that were behind me. does anyone have an idea when GM will allow the ordering of the ss?

I have yet not been able to order a SS yet. I placed three orders on Friday and two of them were SS.

Is there any way for other dealers to verify this? I'm still holding at 1100 and would like to prepare myself for getting skipped for V6 orders.

Just checked with my General Sales Manager. He said that there was a constraint on the 6 speeds for a while, but there isn't one now. If your dealer gives you to much trouble, let me know. I am south of you and have some allocations for this next couple weeks.

Actually GSM just double checked. There is a constraint, it just so happens that GM has been giving us 2 SS allocations a week so really haven't noticed it. Iheartcamaro, your Camaro's already order so isn't affected nor your brothers so dont worry.

If your order is at 1100 you do need to worry about any current and future constraints as you will be subject to them. Basically being at 1100 it is as if your order is just waiting - once the allocation comes up and your dealer can submit your status will change to 2000 and at that point you will be in the process. At 3000 - that is about the time you can stop worrying.

It WILL be affected at 1100 - you haven't been pulled for production. Stick, auto - it doesn't matter SS's are at 55% of what they were for future build weeks, expected to last greater than 4 weeks - and possibly to the end of the 2010 model year.. * subject to change. (based on a supplier issue/shortage)

Ordered 2SS/RS 6 speed Yellow w/Rally Stripes and sunroof. I'll be looking for yours, too! Based on the post by CamaroScotty it doesn't look good though. By the time mine goes through I might as well order the convertible!! Guess I just waited to long for prices to go down.

Sounds like you guys believe that they are going to quit making the V8 due to constraints. That is not true. They are just cutting back on how many they are making. The V8's will still be available just not over-abundantly. When GM first started the pre-order process last year, they were expecting something like 65% to be V-6's. Turns out that over 85% of the ones ordered were V-8's.

Isn't there some kind of tax that GM has to pay the government for producing V8s like the one in the Camaro? I bet there is some kinda of conspiracy that the tax is considerably less with more fuel efficient engines like the V6 and so GM wants to sell more V6s to save money. I have a hard time believing in supplier problems. This year has been so bad for the auto sector I find it hard to believe some parts plants can find the people or current employees won't work some overtime.
