X-Pipe Horsepower

Does an x-pipe on a 2012 2ss/rs ls-3 provide any horsepower gain or just sound? I see you can get them with or without a "resonator". Does this help with horsepower gain or ,again, just sound? What is a resonator? Thanks.*

No real gains here either. If you want to gain some power look into high flow cats or long tube headers. A resonator is a muffler designed to change the tone more then quite things down. An X-pipe in general will cut down on rasp/drone a bit compared to an H-pipe.

Yeah, I already plan on doing LTs and high flow cats. Just trying to build a list of exhaust work worth doing. So, if I'm happy with the sound of my car, just do LTs, cats, and the axle back I already have and call it a day?

Is the stock setup an H? It looks like there is some sort of crossover, but can't tell if it's bracing or not. Thanks.

The OEM exhaust is an H pipe.
