Also it should be noted that I was talking about my Jeep Liberty. I have not removed my heads on my Camaro. Vengeance did the cam and conversion. It's the only thing I haven't done myself. Jeep had overhead cams too. I've been following and quietly rooting for you here. |

Yeah i might have scuffed the pistons a bit in the process but cant be worse than all that carbon build up, besides that carbon will build back up in no time. I was more concerned with not scratching the cylinder walls and those look good. thanks for rooting for me

Alright, I added 5 new photos of recent work.
So last weekend I have installed the new valve springs, seals and retainers on both heads and I managed to install one of the heads back to the block and completed the installation of pushrods and rockers. I must say that using stock bolts made me a bit uncomfortable especially when adding an additional 70 degrees on the 3rd pass to stretch the bolts. I can really appreciate the ARP bolts here and I wish I forked over the $$ for them but I am already too deep financially into this project. I measured the piston to valve clearance and i read 0.1" on the intake and approx 0.24" on exhaust. I am pretty happy with these clearances. The goal is to finish the engine assembly by end of this week.

Sounds like some great memories. My dad used to do that too when I was growing up but I can't say that I enjoyed being around him. He always yelled at me for doing something wrong. Lol. I did learn a lot from him though helping him fix his broke-down Kenworth semi. That thing always needed work and it was required that I'd be there to hand him tools and hold stuff. I don't miss it but I do appreciate all that I learned.

Ready to Roll!
I do have a small problem however. I ordered a 3600 converter but received a 3200. The seller is willing to exchange it of course but this means I will wait another 2 weeks. At least that's how long I waited for this converter. I know that some folks on here went with a 3200 with the same cam and are happy with it but I really wanted a 3600. I was hoping to start it up this weekend. What to do? Anyway here is a new photo from today.

Wait bud, I know it's killing you but wait and get the right parts. IMHO.
Cover those intake ports too please.

So that's where those missing bolts must be! Lol Yeah, I've been a bit too comfortable leaving these things exposed.

Also, I did end up replacing the stock head bolts with ARP bolts. I really like the ARP products and they were cheaper than I thought. It was so easy and smooth to mount those bolts with the moly lube, probably my favorite part of the project to torque them down.

Thanks, yeah I was supposed to have all winter for this project wasn't I? I am 1 month into it and anxious for a start up. So I will wait for the 3600 stall, I may have it as soon as Saturday.
