Anyone heard of a "market adjustment" price

hey guys,

A dealer told me that there is a "market adjustment" from GM and that all cars are getting marked up 5k. I think its complete crap but im curious to see if any of you got the same from any of your dealers.

Thanks

Its crap..I walked out when I heard this and as soon as I got in my car to leave the dealer ran after me and told me he can waive it. Which to me means they were looking for a x-mas gift. Shop around.

That is NOT from GM, it is that dealer that is charging that! Find another dealer!

There are plenty of dealers giving various discounts now. Look around.

The above posters are correct. Market adjustment is also known as your dealer markup.

It's not from GM and is pure profit for the dealer.

Just shop around, some dealers go for volume and sell at or below MSRP while some others go for a handful of suckers at massive markups.

Lots of people were finding MSRP dealers last November when they were pre-ordering (myself included) you'd think there would be even more out there now.............

Some dealers around here were trying to pull that sh*t. The value of a product is what someone is willing to pay for it. If you are willing and have the five gees then that is the value. I am not willing and if I added the five gees to Deval Patrick's 6.25% sales tax and the 2.5% excise tax that we pay in Taxachusetts my SS would have been out of my price range. Remember this, when you are trading it in or selling it a couple of years from now, that five gees will be gone forever. if you look around, you can find one for MSRP or less. Tell the dealer to keep his overpriced car.

Every Chevy dealer in the Boston area has SS's and LT's in their showrooms. Sport and muscle cars are not big sellers during New England winters. i am sure that some good deals can be had in my area.

Look around, there's plenty of Dealers out there, and also Dealers on this Site, who will sell at, or below, MSRP.

Market adjustments are BS
walk out the door, and go to the next dealer up the street, or in the next city. shouldn't take you too long to find a reputable dealer who won't charge you this markup. i wouldn't recommend paying 5k extra that you really don't need to.

My wife and I got up and flat walked out when a dealer slid a piece of paper saying 44k+ to us on a used 2SS. Left a real bad taste in our mouths. Put the car off a couple of months because of it. When I finally realized how bad she still wanted one I found a dealer to order me exactly what she wanted at MSRP.

I've got one even better than that. I live in Virginia Beach where one of the largest Navy Jet bases is located called Oceana Naval air station. The whole area including Norfolk, Hampton and Newport News is called the "Tidewater" area. We have a lot of jets flying around. Some of the dealers are adding what they call "Tidewater paint package". They say this will protect the paint from jet fuel. The problem is the price varies from vehicle to vehicle. $1500 on a Cobalt to $4000 on a Corvette.

Be lucky you don't pay 15% in taxes on yours. That is how much I am paying. Not to mention tire tax, gas guzzler tax (all cars under 35 mpg), A/C tax,...
