It's way to loud
I have this posted in my build thread but figured those that don't follow it might want to know this.
DT long tubes have been installed. I didn't have room in my shop to do it so I had a buddy do it, he does quite a bit of hp work and reported that the headers went in real easy. The only problem is it's to friggin' loud. The car sounded great with the solo hf cats and mack xl exhaust but the mach xl and headers together with no cats are crazy loud, I'm hoping adding the hf cats will help some. As before the Solo exhaust can be driven quietly but when you get on it it wakes up and sounds great With the headers, when driving with tapshift, especially with the windows up, in cabin is more than exceptable but when you get on it, even a little, every head around turns to see what the heck it is. So much for sneaking around town!! |

jk, but in all seriousness, I do not understand this...? I have Kooks LTs and Borla S type which is a moderate, but not mild exhaust and it is only loud to me at crank up and WOT. When driving around city, no one seems to give me a second look.. that includes troopers. Maybe everyone in the South East has exhaust on their sport/muscle cars and it is just accepted, I dont know. I also play my music between volume 7-13 and have no issues whatsoever. Like I said, I do admit at start up, it is balls loud. I crank up in my garage with the door closed, so my neighbors kids don't wake up and open the garage once the lope has leveled.

The solo exhaust is basically a muffler delete with j-pipes. |

Well yea, if you drive WOT everywhere and your windows down you will most likely be deaf in your left ear within a year... I am aggressive as well (my MPG stays around 16), but I usually prefer to hear the exhaust over music unless the wife is in the car.
Do you ever hit the strip to get some of that adrenaline out, man? lol

Headers, high flow cats, and straight piped. No resonators, mufflers, or second cats. Now thats a exhaust system. Sounds bad ass and wakes up the neighbor hood in the am especially when its 40 degrees in the am and it's got nice and cold overnight.
