Unhappy Rumbling on my rear deck

Hey guys, just joined, my back component speaker in my boston acoustic system sound awful when they hit some notes and rattle a LOT. I think the plastic above them may be loose but maybe theyre busted. I was wondering if anyone had a fix or if anyone else has this problem. It really sucks.

sounds like one or more of your speakers is blown, specifically it sounds like there is a tear on one of the speakers, causing the noise you hear at specific volumes and when certain frequencies are played through them.

and the fix part, now this is a BS fix and it will only work temporarily, but we used to use clear nail polish to paint over the section of the speaker that was blown, for a temp fix until swapping out the speaker.

it could be the decklid too. mine rattles on certain songs too.
I am suprized about the amount of low end bass the stock system hits on certain songs though. not anything aftermarket sounding but it isnt too bad im guessing these cars would make excellent sound machines. I used to build custom audio and at one time had a truck with 16- 10" subwoofers and 32 speakers total. anymore im really not into boomin systems, blew out my ears years ago with all that stuff but i actually like my stereo. i think it could be decent with a small amp and a 12" sub for extra bass

Interestingly enough i see you are from the bay area. i moved out there with this truck and worked for M&M godfather subwoofers, they were made in san francisco. all my speakers were from them. I custom built them a show van that had 32 12" subwoofers lol Tony mannino was the owner of the place. the only 80 year old man to own a 20,000 watt van lol

OMFG - M&M were my very favorite subs... god bless you for the work you did there.

had a 1976 chevy nova with a pair of M&M 15's in it juiced off an orion red (back in 90-92 those years run together) I would do horrible things for another set of BNIB M&M's just for the nostalgia of having them. lol
