GT350 is on the list of my next cars. I could see buying one in a year or two. The R version, meh. Nice I guess for those pure track junkies but I'll take the a/c, stereo, etc.

A/C wasn't even an option. See how this works. I do like to see the new ford out there, hopefully it will bring the z/28 price down but I highly doubt it will.

These last few years have been very sweet to us enthusiasts. Hope it continues, and we don't get stuck with another 70's boondoggle. If we do, though, I'm glad I'm participating now with my Z.

Don't kid yourself that GT350R will be very pricey...and rare. If you want one get in line now. I bet it will be built in fewer numbers than the Z/28.

Looks sweet except I'm not a big fan of the rear spoiler...looks like a after thought.
Seems it would get in your way of your rear viewing area. I love the face that were all in a modern muscle car era. It's fun! Game on Ford!

I was excited to see the 19x11 and 19x11.5 wheels....hopefully translating to more tire options or at least higher volume lower prices

So I stand corrected. Just took a look at the preliminary order sheets for the GT350 and the R and it looks like among the upgrades the R gets is Carbon Ceramic Brakes. so that means.
350R vs Z/28 R is lighter R has more horsepower R has carbon ceramic brakes... AND carbon fiber wheels R has similar compound and size tires with exception of rears 11.5in w/ 315s Z has better suspension setup in my opinion. Magne ride is nice but I guess we shall see I cannot wait for a head to head. I really hope this helps assist in the gen 6 Z/28 development. This type of competition is what makes truly great cars in my opinion. |

Man , the GT350 looks way better than the GT350R ! But I guess all that matters is the performance!

I agree that the R doesnt look as good, but sometimes it is function over form.
Id take either if they were given to me.

Oh, I understand! As it should be function over form if you want the best performance car! I just think it could look alot better but hey , looks are subjective! Ford made a killer looking GT350 , that's the only model for the 15 that looks good to me!

I know the HP numbers are close to the Z/28, but at a 100 plus cubic inch deficit I will bet the GT350s torque and power curves are a nowhere near as flat as the LS7 which will make it harder to drive fast.
Second place for the Mustang on this one although I love the looks and the flat crank engine design intrigues me. |
