Also 1 inch seems like alot when there is only a 5mm offset variance from the front to rear.

What cant you just use two new rear wheels and have them stretched so you dont need a spacer?

IS there something here that we should all know? Plesase someone explain because I have 2 chances to get spare rear wheels cheap so I can try this out.

I would prefer no spacer on the car just my opinion.

Stock wheels look killer done in this setup man it makes most aftermarket rims look ugly and out of place on the SS.

Thanks

EDIT: Actually, the wheel studs are in the new spacers aren't they. . . do you have any pictures of these spacers?
Thanks for the compliment! You got it right, in your edit. The spacers have inset holes, that fit over the stock studs, with lugs that bolt and fit into the insets... and there are 14mm studs on the 1" billet spacers, that accommodate the stock lugs. I'll see if I can get some pics of the spacers, without having to take mine off.

The 1" clearance is to clear the inner wall of the wheel well. With the spacers, there's zero rub or performance degradation during turns, straights, bumps, etc. I love the look, more that aftermarket wheels for sure.

Number_9 thanks for clearing that up.

I havn't seen any aftermarket rims that even come close to the stock rims in terms of looks. In my oppinion this is definitely the way to go. All the $4,000 19" "lightweight" rims look like sh*t and I'm sure the performance gain from the lighter smaller rims will be almost none. . . and impossible to feel from a SOTP view.

And I wouldn't worry for a second about the welds failing. . . I think anyone who brings that up is probally trying to sell another set of their own rims.

Can't wait to widen my rims. . .

I'll be at the ADM Shop tomorrow, likely, or Tuesday. I know Andy is building out his website, but maybe we can prompt him to sell the spacers separately... as they are included with his widened wheel package.

Widening stock wheels has been around for a looong time and i personally love it. Its a much cheaper way to get a big ole meaty tire patch out back (or front if you're road racing, etc). All they do, is cut, and weld in a section to the wheels to widen.. while minding clearance and offsets. Not trying to step on ADM's toes or who they shipped yours off to to get widened, but Weldcraft in MI is very well known for widening and has been doing this forever. If anyone's interested i'd give them a shout. www.weldcraftwheels.com

btw, not plugging anything here, just always heard good things about weldcraft.

Number_9 is your car lowered?

My car is down around 1.5-2" and I feel like a 1" spacer could cause my rear tires to rub on the outside wheel well. . .

Nope, no lowering here... would be adverse to my drag racing... that said, I have seen the widened wheels on the ADM 427, which is lowered (a bit over an 1.5" if memory serves) as well as on Sack Rat SS's car... no rub on either one.

I'd PM ADM Performance to confirm.

E85LSX - I agree with you. The double weld is going to be the last place to give way. Another point is that you have to use a spacer whether you use a front or rear doner widened wheel. So, you cannot get the spacer too thin based upon the way it attaches, ie the hidden lug bolts still have to have enough meat in the spacer to grip to the hub/rotor and enough depth to stay less than flush with where the hubcentric factory wheel attaches. Also you want plenty of threads holding on to the spacer. No thread problem for the wheel. In the old days we put in longer studs with slip on spacers. Not anywhere as well engineered as what is done now. BTW, these spacers are used on drag strips and Bonneville all the time. They are bulletproof. My 2 cents. Hope this helps a little.
