Decision about 1LE
I was very exciting after reading about the new "1LE" coming out next year, especially the part about "under $40k". I even talked to my better-half this weekend about the possibility of selling mine to upgrade. And even though she said she would prefer that I didn't sell mine, she said she wouldn't stop me if that's what I wanted to do. But that would mean removing and selling every modification off my car and putting it back to completely stock first. Don't get me wrong, I like my car. I've put a lot of work into it, and it certainly turns heads! But I guess it's just my fascination with having the latest and greatest. I've already determined that the ZL1 is out of my price range for sure.
But what really concerns me is the "true" price of this 1LE. Sure, they say "under $40k", but I'm sure that is for a bare bones 1SS with just the 1LE package. But if you wanted the 2SS with the RS option, the optional dual-mode exhaust, the new electronics package w/navigation (which I would want all those), now you're probably talking at least $45-46k, maybe even more, right?!?!? So, is it really worth it? I figured I could probably sell mine for right about $30k (4100 miles), but I still owe like $20k on it, so that's only about $10k to put down on the new one. That will put me right back in debt at about $35k again. I keep flip-flopping back-n-forth like a fish out of water on this. Maybe the best thing to do is wait a while and see what the "real" prices are like, instead of just guesstimating?!?!? Oh, I almost forgot, the other part of "the deal"....If I upgraded, I would have to sign a contract (in blood as she put it), that I would not do ANY mods for five years or until it is paid off in full. And I told her if I did upgrade, I would sign that contract with her!!! I know, in the end, this is totally my decision to make. But just wondering what your opinions and/or thoughts would be on this matter. Once again, my wife reminded me that I am "Never Satisfied"!!! We joke around that if I ever was able to open up my own shop, it would be called "Never Satisfied Racing"!!! Don't steal that, I'm claiming it right here and now!!! |

Lol
Yeah, I started using that name about 10-12 years ago. I got tired of always asking moderators to change my name after I'd move from one project to the next.

I think you're probably right about $46k plus for what you want, I'd guess $50 is more like it. Figure the price difference between a 1SS and a 2SS/RS the way you describe add to the the cost of the electronics package, maybe another $3k.
On the other hand you probably have about a year to wait so you will have a bigger down from you loan being smaller.

If they shedded some weight I might do it. It's not worth it to me. With any kind of options I'm sure the price will hike very quickly.

Looks like you've already got a better performing car than the 1LE is supposed to be. I'd stick with it and save the money. The only reason for the upgrade would be to say "I've got a 1LE with navigation". I went through the same flip/floping in my head; as I'm sure everyone else is doing, but in the end when performance is the goal it's better to just upgrade the car you already own and love.
If you have to be "that guy" with the rarer factory car then the 1LE is for you....but if you want to kick that guy's ass...stick with yours.
