Nope. No wiring or lights. I think Gen5DIY sells an aftermarket one.

Back in the 50's, 60's, 70's even the cheapest Chevrolets had both a glove box
light and footwell lighting. So cheap today. Those were the good old days imo.

How hard or expensive would it be to put a small led light on the ignition switch as well so we can see where to put the darn key in the dark???

Never got a good answer on that either.

But we can put lights to see where to put our feet, and where to put our cups.

The light under the hood was a real benefit as well. Yep the good old days.

Just think of it as less chance for parasitic loss...glovebox, hood, trunk...anything that a light comes on when open and can't tell if its still on when closed...We should be happy not to have those luxuries anymore

And the mercury switch that operated it.

I had a 1991 Chevrolet pickup that had a light under the hood that was on a cord. You pulled it out, turned it on and could use it anywhere under the hood. When done you wound it up and turned it off. I really liked that light. Agree, the good old days.

When I bought my car in Feb. 2015 I could not believe it only had the one overhead light inside. I never really noticed that on the test drive although it wouldn't have made a difference. It just seems kind of ..... cheap.

I just use the flashlight app on my phone if I really need to see in the glove box. It seems kind of ridiculous, but it works. Might get around to putting a light in there one of these days.

to counter lighting problems I went to gen5diy.com and looked up and installed under dash lighting by buying $20 strip LEDS from the local self adhesive strips on them and attaching them up under the dash on both sides then taking off the kick panel for the passenger and tapping into the two wires for the interior lighting leaving me with constant low level lighting shining on my feet to be able to see...a must when your a manual and more important than the glove box. I would point out the harness connection is rather tight to get it loose and tap into the wire it will be right next to the harness connection and sufficiently taping the thing is very important to not short out, but its totally worth it to do and is must do mod I believe. Good Luck....foot well lighting is more important.....and my dome is a brick of LEDs colored red... the directions on the sitw showed me the proper number and color of the two wires to tap into and long ago there may be threads on here showing this.

Strange how my '10 SS has a trunk light but no footwell lighting. I don't think i've
ever needed the trunk light but would have appreciated footwell lighting thousands
of times in the past 8 years. Added my own:

Yep, I remember that in my 91 SS pickup!
