Painting rockers question

So I found a good price for painted rockers on ebay from someone with 100% reviews. The rockers came and they're the reddish orange (redrock) and not the CRT (crystal claret). In the dark the color is close but in the sun you can clearly see the orange in it. So can I just scuff the paint with 600 then put a light coat followed by a med coat or CRT then a med coat of gloss ? Or should I go with another grit sandpaper ? I would think the crt over the redrock would match fine as the colors are close anyways. Opinions ? Btw I was going to go to paint world and just grab the aerosol can or crt to hit it with.

When I scuff prior to painting I'll use a red "Scotch Brite" type pad. They're about a 400 grit.
