MTI Racing Installed STS Turbo

Hello all I'm new to the forums. I contacted MTI Racing about a month ago see if they could do anything for my v6 Camaro, Kevin at MTI Racing said yes we can install a STS turbo, they seemed very excited about doing it. They said my car would be the 1st v6 camaro. So I ordered the turbo, had to put 3.5k down to get the ball moving.

It took the car to MTI Racing on the 3 of August, they give me a tour of the place, all I can say is WOW. The turbo guy(Stephen) was looking forward to doing the install and testing.

hopefully they will get the tune Monday the 16th August and get it dyno.

Very cool. Z Madness (on this forum) also has the STS kit, and AAC did a show car with the same kit but that car has seemed to have gone missing. You're definitely one of the first. Looking forward to hearing your impressions and seeing the dyno results.

Is there a track near you where you can take it? I'd LOVE to see your 1/4 mile time.

How much for the kit and install?

Around 8k give or take. I have some post in Z's Thread but stated this one... not to take anything from Z.

Jim, did you do anything else/upgrade? Or is this the base kit? Also, what gauges did you go with? I just want to be able to compare notes. I am just about done with the Meth Kit so hopefully I will get it on the dyno and see how it runs at different boost levels. Thanks. Z

On a somewhat un-related note, I just received my new Corsa cat-back yesterday, hehe. Sometimes I really wish this was my playtoy rather than my DD (but then I remember how heavy it is. )

Looking forward to seeing your results!

So I watched the OP's video. Does your air filter also touch your turbine? Also Z, what do you think about MTI putting that crossover pipe on the exhaust? Seems like a lot of customization from MTI for a bolt on kit, no?

My filter does not touch the turbine and I believe there is a significant enough gap. Also, I probably wouldn't do the cross pipe as they suggested. My thought was switching to a Y Pipe and run it through a large single pipe, run the wastegate off the turbo and create dual exhaust tips off the turbo exhaust. This would also free up more room for an alternative intake location. However the current setup seems easy enough to change the location of the filter if you wanted. But hey, STS is suppose to be the experts and have this system well thought out to work as is. I am happy with the gains of the kit with the 5 psi. of boost. This is really designed to be a bolt on kit for a stock V-6. $ for $, pretty good results IMHO.

FYI, I believe the 400 rwhp that AACS achieved was at higher boost, they claim 6 but it might have been higher. I'll have the meth/water kit and boost controller done this weekend so we will see how that goes. Not sure when I can get to the DYNO.

I upgraded the turbo to the ball bearings. got a pillar with a boost gauge.

1,400 for the install. had some extras done... boost gauge, painting the pillar to match the car. Cut over pipe in this vid: http://s268.photobucket.com/albums/j...TSv6Camaro.mp4

so it might be close to 2k.

Jim, what's the update? Did they do the dyno or did they run into trouble?
