Average cost for supercharger install and tune?
Not sure if this is the right place for this but I am not really asking for information about Superchargers in general. I know which way I want to go there but I am looking for a shop to do the installation and dyno tune and need some help with what I should be looking for for a reasonable price.
The reason I ask is because I just got a quote for $9500 which would include just the installation of a magnuson SC with intercooler kit and dyno tune. This seems REALLY expensive to me. So, what did you guys pay for a supercharger installation with a dyno tune. If you have to include cost of the supercharger kit thats fine, just looking for an average price so I do not get TAKEN!!! If this is the wrong location for this, please feel free to move it and I apologize.

Are you saying you were quoted $9500 purely for labor?

It does seem a bit high .. I'd shop around unless there isn't any others in the general area (or as far as you would like to travel) ... I'd think that it could be done for somewhere in the 8k range .. Crowley

I would think he's taking about the parts AND labor.
It just depends an who you have install the equipment. There are a few companies on the site that will do an install for under 7k, and others will not advertise their install price at all. If you go with a big name shop, expect to pay more. You're not paying for their name, but rather the expertise they put into making sure your car is built with the best equipment and the most experienced technician. There is a reason some companies come with a hefty fee. They do great work and back it up.

Correction, the shop misunderstood my question and did not realize I was asking about supplying the supercharger kit. Sounds like it was $8900 for the installation, custom pully and SC kit and dyno.
$9500 to include the above as well as custom valve covers and routing for the supercharger for the new covers. Both of our mistake. That sounds like its more realistic!!!

Figure $6000-$7000* for the parts and 12 hrs or less (12hrsX$80 hr=$960*) for the labor, the tune should come with the supercharger unless you have other stuff added to the car.
So final total should be $7000-$8000* everthing included in therory. I see you have other stuff done to your car so add $500 for a tune, and get a deal on follow up tunes like $150 for every one. Or by the parts and do it yourself. Shop around and do your homework. Some vendors will pick up your car and some may do a better job than others.

How many shops, in your neck of the woods, would you trust to do the install? That may be part of the problem. It's not rocket science, but if I paid someone to do it, it damn well better be done right. You might consider hauling it to a shop with a good rep if one's not local to you. You might not save anything when you consider the freight, but peace of mind is worth a little too

Anything more then $7-8K and you are overpaying IMO. Plenty of good shops will do for this price range.
