Vortech supercharged?

I saw a few clips on youtube of vortech supercharged SS. How expensive is this to do? They said the 0-60 times go down to 4.2 seconds with this setup, didn't look like much more was modified, just the supercharger. Also, does Chevrolet do this at the dealer when you buy the car if you want it done? The car is more appealing than a C6 vette when you consider its NEWER, more spacious and can still be as quick.

Vortech, like most other supercharger options, cost in the neighborhood of $7000 installed. I'm not sure about 0-60 just depends on how hard you launch the car but I believe 4.2 is easily achievable. There may be a few dealers that would add a vortech to your car, but this voids the warranty. If you want warranty protection go with the Edelbrock E-force which can be warrantied for 100,000 miles.

Vortech Superchargers are one of our favorites.

We have done builds from 535 RWHP to 742 RWHP on the 2010 Camaro, I think we are around 20 units this year alone.

I have been using Vortech since the early 90s on hundreds of builds, always a reliable performance option.

Just to clarify...Does Edelbrock warranty their supercharger for 100,000 miles, or the whole engine once installed? I never heard of such an extensive aftermarket warranty.

Not when you look at it from a Horsepower Per dollar ratio.

Definitely the most HP Per dollar available.

I am enjoying mine

Look around for installs, some shops are running deals, depending on where you live. Not really a dealer item.

USA is a big place!

Edelbrock warranty covers (replaces) the entire drivetrain which is factory voided once Edelbrock supercharger is installed.

ONLY in the Short term, at 50.00 a refill it adds up fast, and it is only Part Time Power, the bottles run out quick.

You have to expense things out over the life of the car as well.

This is very true....

But I was thinking of just the one time down the strip....

Whats the cost of upkeep on these vortechs versus the tvs2300?

Same Replace the belt every 12,000 miles.

Not quite. I forget the details of their warranty because I haven't looked at it in some months but even though Edelbrock does offer a limited warranty, they only offer you a fixed sum for each part of the drivetrain and once you exhaust that amount by doing warranty work, your warranty is effectively over.

And think about, you have to keep your car completely canned Edelbrock tune, and you cannot add any other modifications. What that means is if your car breaks down (pretty unlikely I would assume) while you are running the Edelbrock and their canned tune and you make a warranty claim and if it gets approved, the warranty will pay for repairs up to the amount that you are alloted through their warranty.

But here's the problem as I see it: Unless you plan on rebuilding your broken drivetrain parts with stronger aftermarket parts, your car will be repaired back to the origincal condition, which would have been the exact condition that your car was in when it broke down. In this hypothetical, what is to stop your car from experiencing the same problem again? And if another problem arises, your effectively on your own with the repair bill.

The warranty can be a good thing if you think it is feasible for you. But it's not a replacement for the GM powertrain warranty.

So you were going to spend $600+ on a nitrous kit to use it ONCE?
