What are you guys using to push out Outer bushings?

Going to install some trailing arms, toe rods, and outer bushings tomorrow. I dont have anything at my place that I can use as a press for the bushings, so wondering what everyone here is using? Im gonna make a run to the auto store so maybe something relatively cheap I could pick up from there that could do the job.

See if you can borrow one of their ball joint pullers. They come with several large diameter tube like spacers. Use the one that is just larger than the bushing with a long enough bolt/nut and some big old washers and you've got it.

outer bushings that the trailing arm goes to. I saw a basic 2 jaw puller that I picked up that looks like it might work. If not I will be back at the store.

The trailing arm came with one already in the arm, Im replacing the one in the knuckle on the car that the trailing arm slides over.

A bolt, some washers and sockets would be the best at home method. Use a bolt and a washer on one end and the socket as a cup / receiver the other. Tighten the bolt to pull it through.

I like to use a three foot long pry bar and a socket. By leveraging against the lower control arm bolt with a small socket on the ferule of the bush I can pop it out with relative ease. You do need to be careful that the bar and socket do not slip.

I used two sockets, and a long bolt with a nut. One socket just biger then the bushing, so it sits on the outer bushing housing, and the other socket that will push the bushing through the housing. put the big socket on one side of the bushing with the open side facing the bushing, and the other sock on the other side of the bushing with the open side also facing the bushing, run the bolt through every thing then put the bolt on and tightin. the smaller socket will push the bushing right out, least then a minute, and if you have the sockets, and nut and bolt, it's free.

Got them all in fine. The 2 jaw puller i used got them out no prob. The hardest thing about the install was trying to get the bolts torqued to the correct specs. I cant remember if it was the toe rod or trailing arm but one needed a swivel to work. I brought it in to custom alignment yesterday.

Specs I got
Front
-1.3 camber
1/32" toe

Rear
-.8 camber
1/32" toe
It seems like alot of guys like to run a little toe with the rear to help traction on launching. So im going to give that setup a shot.

Car feels much better now. Got my bushings timed in before the alignment and now it feels planted. I have springs, trailing arms, outer bushings, sways, and toe rods. Great upgrade!

Custom Alignment is a super shop. It sounds like everything was done to virtualy perfection. Enjoy!
