Am I crazy or did this thing just get faster?

Hey everyone. Well, the Camaro continues to astonish and amaze me ...

My Camaro SS is my daily driver with about a 30-mile-a-day round trip to work Mon-Fri and limited duty on the weekends. You can see my list of mods in my signature ... all done with around 1500 miles on the clock.

Well, she's just over 6 months old now, and I just passed the 5,000 mile mark. On the way home from work the other night, I found a reason to plant my foot in it and .... HOLY CRAP ... did this thing get faster on its own? I'm not talking early-morning crisp, cool air here ... I'm talking 85-degree So Cal summer-afternoon temps after driving for 25 minutes already ...

So I chalked it up to the car gods smiling down on me for a moment in time ... but amazingly it seems to not be just a chance situation ... throttle response really does feel crisper and it does seem to pull a little harder!

I've heard of "break-in" periods before ... and I know that certain computer systems do go through a "learning" process ... so I guess it doesn't seem too far fetched ...
Has anyone else experienced this phenomenon?

PS ... I don't drink or do drugs ... and I am by no means complaining that my car seems faster ... just curious ...

i think it's more about being comfortable with how your car reacts and knowing how to really drive the car after a few months than it is it being "faster".

You get an "A" for effort, but ultimately you failed because you misspelled flux capacitor. Had you spelled it correctly, I would have laughed profusely. Love that joke reference.

To the OP, LSX motors will make more power with mileage. I've dyno'd cars @ 5000 miles, and then again @ 15000 with nothing else change and made 15-20 more rwhp. Loose engine = more power.

My car gained 25 hp from when I dynoed it with 83 miles on it compared to a redyno on the SAME dyno(for you dyno queens) with similar weather at about 1800 miles. Went from 342 to 367 on my LS3

So, yes, it is possible

Flux capacitor, I love it

Thanks guys .... I appreciate (most of) the comments ...
I know I'm a little crazy to begin with ... but I at least like to think I know what's up when it comes to cars ...

I've got 4200 miles on mine now, and I dont think it feels faster... BUT it's deffinitely getting better gas mileage! I routinely get 19 and change MPG in town! Blows me away.

I get too used to the power and have to constantly upgrade. The worse feeling was coming from my low 12 sec 4th gen to this car and my new car feeling like a fat cow in comparision. I was like WTF:(. I am still not fully there yet with my mods. On a side note the weather here dropped about 20* and you really can feel a pretty big difference.

They're tight when new and loosen up with mileage. Not all get faster but for some encouragement my last LS1 head/cam set up went faster each year I had it. Go figure? It MPH's at the track two mph faster each year. ET's stayed about the same but I swear it felt faster ans faster too.

In the early days of people receiving their Camaros, we all talked about how these cars really woke up between 4 and 5 thousand miles as mlee stated. Mine certainly did.

I had my cam and supercharger installed around 800 miles. I just hit 1900 miles and i owned the car since Dec 09. I cant wait to see how it responds at around 4k miles but at my current rate i wont hit that for at least another 2 years.

It's true. I know it's not my imagination, the car gets quicker and quicker all the time.
I thought my totally stock SS woke up @ 1500 miles but it keeps improving. Now with 8400 miles its faster than ever.
