Hypertech Tuner

Anyone else running the Hypertech 32006 tuner...I have
no issues at all would just like to here from others...There
was a update i did today 0 - 60 throttle restriction...Can't
wait to run it...

That takes the Torque Management off and it makes a difference in acceleration. I wish they would add the option to change the shift firmness like they have on other models.

I have one as well. Very nice setup with lots of options. I wish it would have a monitoring program but that's about the only drawback. I happen to know the tuner for HT, so that helps. The 0-60 throttle restriction is tuning of the TM for best results. As many tuners will tell you, turning TM totally off isn't ideal for a DD. TM is what gives you smooth take off and saves your drivetrain. It makes for a better daily driving experience. We can all agree that GM put in too much TM from the factory. Dialing it back is definitely a plus and gives you a more "muscle car" experience without being too harsh.

ArkySS:
The HT unit does have the option to change shift firmness. You dial in a % firmer than stock. You can also adjust gear change RPM as well as rev limiter increase.

I was looking at my HT tuner disk and it says it's there. I haven't personally messed with it, but I thought I remembered it having that option. I'll have to plug in my HT unit to see if it's actually there. You're making me think too much,

Edit: Just plugged mine in and it's not there. Guess the disk is a generic disk.

reading this is taking off the throttle restriction is hard on the car...
Just trying to understand all this...

The firmer shifting isn't on the Camaro tuner. You can adjust gear change RPM though.

Yes taking off throttle restriction is harder on the car. Basically it's decreasing the amount of torque management that GM put into the tune. I wouldn't worry about it being detrimental though. You will definitely be able to feel the difference and you'll like it. It's one of the first things all of the tuners decrease when doing the tune. You can also experiment with AFM on and off. I only noticed a 0.2mpg difference in a month long experiment of daily driving. Needless to say, I turned mine off.

Have tuners instock will beat ones price. Also i called on the firmness of shifting and they said they are coming out with more and going to make it where you can download off there site for people that already have it

Torque Management (as I understand it) is there to prevent 'flair ups' aka hitting the rev limiter more frequently. Let us know a timeline on when they plan on upgrading the software!

Axis did you change shift points?

No, I didn't change the shift points. My tuner guy, AKA the guy below, set mine up and we didn't feel the need to do so. The A6 shifts pretty damn well and at a good RPM. I guess if you were a dedicated autoxer or drag racer, messing with that might be a little beneficial but for my hauling my fat ass around, it isn't needed.

Axis what could one do for the dreaded (lull) when you stomp
on it...You get a second or moment delay before it kicks in...I
thought maybe throttle restraint this was going to fix that...
What's your take on the delay that i have...Remember L99 - Auto here...

Just got off the phone with "my guy" (haha) and it looks like i'm going to make a trip to HT in Memphis for a day or two. We're going to play around with shift firmness vs driveability. Might look into changing shift points as well, depending on how much time we have. This probably won't happen for a couple of weeks though. They are constantly working on cool stuff at HT and I have to work since my wife doesn't make enough money to keep me in the lifestyle I want to become accustomed too. We'll have to find some time where both of our schedules match up. I'll be sure to keep you guys posted as I learn stuff.

010 Camaro:
Do you still get the "lull" if you turn all TC and ST off? Mine does it on occassion but it's not all the time. I don't seem to notice it when I turn all control features off. I also run in sport mode all the time too, meaning I put the shifter all the way down when driving. Don't know if it does much for shifting but it seems to respond better.

WHile you're at it, please ask if torque management is turned all the off or only partially, say 0% vs 25%? Also, do they plan to add logging capability? Thanks for being the volunteer. (No reference to Tennesse )

It's not totally off, just cranked down some. Not sure of the exact % but it's what he felt was a good mix of increased performance and driveability. From what i've been told, turning it all the way off makes the car fairly violent. Most of the tuners on here have also stated that they don't recommend turning it off completely.

I highly doubt they can datalog as none of the HT units have that option. If they did, i'm sure it would greatly increase the price.

No problem about volunteering. I'm always looking for any excuse to go spend time with old friends and mess with cars. Spending a night or two in Memphis aint a bad thing either. It's only a two hour drive straight down I-40.

Been raining all week here guys...Haven't taking a boot yet...Want
to try in manual mode but no engaging the tapshift and letting go...
T/C & S/T off...See if i get that " lull " or lag when you stomp on it...
