inferno orange metallic/dealer mark up

Hello to all my fellow camaro lovers. Our car is almost here!First of all I would like to thank all of you guys for all the information that you made available about our beloved car.I currently have on order a 2ss/rs,iom with iom interior, sunroof, and Hurst shifter.I sent my deposit to a dealer that i met on e-bay.I did sufficient research and found the dealer to be repeatable so i sent a 2000$ deposit and agreed to pay the 4000$ mark up.That is something that normally would never do but I wanted to own one of the first camaro to hit the street.I hope i didn't go wrong.I have read on different threads about the iom color.I went to all the dealerships here in my home town and i can't find a iom car anywhere.i recently found some pictures of a 2008 black and orange hayabusa parked beside a iom solstice and the colors looks identical. Some pictures are more red than orange but i have a 08 busa that's black and orange if my camaro is that color orange i would be ecstatic. My worst fear is that i am going to end up with a dull red tomato soup looking car and with the same color interior.A HOT MESS!!!If anybody can give me some food for thought it would be greatly appreciated thanks.

wow $4000 over msrp? that is absolutely insane, you should have done more research and found a dealer that guarantees msrp and have it drop shipped to a local dealer. And a $2000 deposit is even more crazy? was it refundable?

IOM looks spectaular in the sun, but in the shade it does look a litte tomato-y.

The busa and 07 GSXR 1000 I believe are a little more Orange, but in UV the IOM is very close. The big difference and I'm not 100% is the pearl in the color of the IOM vs Suz metallic. THe IOM will look more red with less light. Theirs a lot of pic on this sight of IOM check it out.

Paying over MSRP is definitely crazy. I would reconsider going through that dealer. Search for the MSRP dealer list.

Sorry. I don't think we were trying to piss on your wheaties. Just the fact that paying over MSRP is not good for anyone. There is no reason dealers should be doing that. Too many dealers out there. And I don't think any dealer can promise you a car by a specific date at this point.

We had two dealer try that second sticker crap with us and the found a great dealership to work with that guaranteed us MSRP. Even at that I thought it was more the generous, but seeing that it was new and I was not going to get much better without driving all over BFE. WE settled for MSRP.

Damn, well you are gonna get your car, but we have pushed people not to pay over msrp. There are plenty of dealers out there that are selling the car where it should be. IDK what you can do.

yea i got a little disappointed a the chevy dealership in my town.I asked them about the camaro at first they wouldn't entertain the idea of ordering a camaro but once i told them what i had done they said exactly what you said that there is no way to guarantee a car by a certain delivery time and they were supposed to get 20 cars in the first cars being v6's.They also suggested that they would probably be asking over sticker but if i could get my deposit back they would sell me one for ONLY 2000$ OVER STICKER.Prime example of what's wrong with the auto industry!!:flag2:

Buff Whelan Chevrolet in Sterling Hts, Mich. still has unfilled allocations for 30 per their ad in last weeks paper. You should be able to get MSRP there. DO NOT pay over...there is no reason to.
Lets not allow this car to go crazy in the market like the GT500 did. There is no reason to...its not a limited production car where the manufacturer does'nt make crap on it but the dealer does...

All deposits should be refundable. Most laws support you on this one. Just tell the dealer you cannot go through with it, and as long as the car has not been delivered the money should be refunded. Non refundable ussually means after the car is delivered you must take possession, because the goods were built for you in mind. At this point you are opting to back out and the dealership should not be liable.

Until the car is manufactured, the deposit is refundable by most legal wording. It is worth doing for 2k.

First of all, congratulations on getting a new Camaro. I hope you enjoy it as much as the rest of us anticipate that we will enjoy ours.

Now, a little math --

You put down a $2000.00 deposit to pay $4000.00 over MSRP, correct?

If you bail on this dealer now, and assume the worst case that you don't get your deposit back, you are still ahead of the game by $2000.00 plux tax when you use a dealer that will sell for MSRP. I looks like you can only better your position by ditching this guy and going with a dealer with a little more integrity.

I would still fight like an SOB for my 2 grand because I think the law will back you.

BTW -- if you don't mind, can you please post the name of this dealer.

If you do decide to cancel and go somewhere else (I hope you do) I wouldn't go to the dealer you talk of above.

Reasons
1. They - the dealer - arent getting any cars for their stock - Camaro is Sold sales only "DEALER CANNOT ORDER ANY FOR INVENTORY" (not right now) - the only inventory they will get out of the gate are the ones the buyer don't take delivery on.
2. The comment about only getting 20 v'6s is false - see 1 above. They aren't getting anything the consumer is.
3. Even if the car comes in some dealers have said deposit is refundable if you don't take delivery - why - see 1 above - they just got a car for inventory.
4. I would order what you want from someone who will go MSRP or less and get it in writing. There are dealers out there and threads in this website with their names.

GL - Help the rest of us - don't agree to pay over MSRP

Well BigTrap, look at it this way -- even if you end up taking your whooping, you can can still feel good that you will be driving the hands-down hottest car on the road next year.

I have always admired the Corvette for what it is, but in my opinion, these new muscle cars are more head turners than the vette. I can honestly say that when I see another vette on the road -- pfft -- another vette. When I see a Challenger on the road, it looks verrry different from all the other wedge-shaped cars and it instantly catches my attention. I can only imagine what it will be like to see a Camaro on these roads.

BTW bigtrap - great color choice, and set up on the car - her sister will live in MI and have black custom Ralleys - went with Custom because I want the ralley stripes like the concept extending onto the front fascia. I also just modified my order to get the RS with polished wheels

Again - GL on your purchase

If they refuse to give you back the deposit take them to court and contact the Attorney General of your state, there is no such thing as a non refundable deposit. Consumer laws state that until you sign the final paperwork and drive off the lot with the car the money is 100% yours. Even after the car has been made and has been delivered, legally the money is still yous as now the dealer has a car to sell to someone else.
