Barton Shifter Side Slop??

any one have a barton short throw with a lot of side slop...?? is it normal anything to be worried about? what causes it?

i know its not the shifter itself but the linkege coming out of the tranny

My barton shifter sticks straight up like... it just sticks straight up. What's a lot of side slope? You got a picture?

I think he means slop, not slope. It will be similar to factory since it uses stock linkage.

Mine does the same thing and under hard acceleration it rattles and drives me crazy

mine has a rattle at WOT have you thought about bringing it into the dealer to have them look at the side slop?

Mine has slop but so did my stock shifter. It doesn't seem to affect anything at all. I have no problems banging through the gears.

Doubt the dealer will do anything about it since it is an aftermarket shifter.

I would suggest playing with a couple of other cars and see if they all have what you describe as slop. There's supposed to be side to side movement, but the shifter should return to the same straight up position when you release it.

Did you have the same slop before installing the Barton? If so, you may want to replace the OEM shifter and have your dealer check it out.
