Classic SS Emblems on 5th gen

I posted this elsewhere here and then I discovered this board. I doubt I'm supposed to re-post it, but I think it will get more response in the cosmetic section rather than the general Camaro section.

Has anyone tried to remove the small SS logo on the grill of the new Camaro and then replace the gold bowtie on the front and back with classic larger SS logos...from a 1st gen Camaro? I have been wondering if this will work but I have yet to see anyone do it.

Perfect, the SS link is exactly what I am talking about. Thanks! It says that front and rear badges are included in the set. Do you know of any pictures of the rear badge installed?

Wow, looks great. Does that have a blacked out rear panel with it of is the badge just on the car itself? I have seen pictures of the removal of the rear bowtie and I thought there were 2 bolt holes under the bowtie...this SS badge doesn't seem wide enough to cover them. If there isn't a blacked out rear panel, how is this problem solved?

I've got the SLP "SS" on the front & rear. I'm happy with them, but if I had to do it again, I'd go for the repro 1st Gen "SS" emblems instead. The ones from SLP are too flat & 2 dimensional, I would have preferred the look of the old raised emblems, but the SLP's are "good enough". It might take a bit of searching, but a few guys on here have done it. If I remember correctly, it's just a matter of bending it slightly and cutting the guide pins, but I'm not positive.

Below is a link from another thread with pics of the SLP's on my SS front & back. I also have the links to get them cheaper than ordering them direct from SLP.

yes, look around, do a Google search, you'll find it - and if you're like me, you'll find it to be ugly as sin.

I have the SLP set also and they worked great. The kit comes with two SS emblems and a small black oval vynal to cover the holes left in the trunk whenyou remove the bowtie. I blacked out my back panel so I didn't use it.

You will like the look of the cloassic SS emblems over the new retro ones.

Yes, I have the blacked out rear panel. It was part of the ZL575 package from SLP.

THe black portion of the SLP easily covers the guide holes on the rear.

Not sure what year you have, but it seems like the 2011's don't have the guide holes.

Here are mine. Originals from Classic Ind.$25 each. Front is from 69 SS and rear is 68-69 SS. Rear use 3m tape, front has a mount bracket but the holes need to be made bigger so it fits all the way on the pins and butts up against the back of the grill. Held on by speed nuts.Easy to do

Looks great. I am thinking of doing that style custom painted red jewel tint. I think I would like just the letters on the back with out the black backing plate. Does anyone know where I can get just the polished letters only?

Not by themselves, maybe classic and others have them but the single letters are usually the ones made for the fenders, not sure if same size or not

count me in:

And I installed a stainless SS emblem from "emblem pros". I didn't want a decal to cover the holes where the chevy emblem used to be. Emblem pros provided a resin backing plate...which is must better IMO

OP, you've got some great pics in this thread to help you choose. FWIW, I went with the Heritage grille and the Classic SS emblems also, front and back.

Nice pictures of our stuff, can I use those?

We are making the brackets for the SS placement in the center of the grill.

This one has orange centers but different colors are available.
This one has mirror frames, but also different material and colors are available for the frames.

SS emblem for the center of the heritage grill.
